New Suzuki Gsx-s1000

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by Mattie821, Oct 8, 2021.

  1. Traded the Monster 821 in today for the new GSX-S1000.

I have had an earlier version of this bike that was let down a bit by poor fueling at low revs, but they have sorted it now and also made it more 'beautiful' :D. I still have a real soft spot for my previous one.

Love that motor and I can live without some electronic sophistication.

Nothing wrong with the Monster 821. People like the Ducati - lots of "nice bike comments" about the Monster. Great "A" road bike - power and manners without being frightening. Not a great motorway bike though - a bit middle lane. I need more power

Got a great trade in for the Monster

  2. I know it's down on tech but in todays crazy price world we live in that's a bargain.
    Many good reviews also.

  3. Yes, some good reviews including the news that they have sorted out the poor fueling at low revs - that let down the previous model.

I had been looking at the BMW as well but cannot say that it was love at fist sight - the GSX-S in Triton Blue was love at first sight - never considered the black version until I saw it. Can't wait to get some wax on that tank !
I think Suzuki have done a good job of that.

By comparison the other contender - BMW's S1000R

The GT version of the GSX looks like a good bit of kit. Probably another year or two before I look to change though.

  5. When you say no tech, it has TC, QS, ABS etc surely?! Even tiny little bikes have those these days

  6. It does have those basic functions as it is a ride by wire. It has A - B - C but you cannot set the parameters within those rider modes like you can with other bike (even my Monster I can choose the parameters for the rider modes).

There is no cornering ABS. So you get some basic stuff. No Cruise control either.

The crucial bit of tech that the Suzuki has that the BMW does not have - is the $1 bit of metal and plastic that hides the exhaust from sight ......

    From BMW - really .. ?
Is that any kind of acceptable at any price ?
That is enough to prevent me from buying it no matter how many rider modes it has. Next time spend $1 and put a bit of metal over it, with a little screw.

Shocking, really. Someone wants to go back to design college and do their course again.

  7. Not covering that ugly cat. has always been a problem on the BM.
Bought the first gen.in 2014 and after the first service fitted a full system so that eliminated that issue.
    It's an eyesore.

  8. How easy would a belly pan be? They have them on race bikes, they have to. All that exposed pipework and cat looks wank.

  9. Don't undestand it myself.

  10. Aftermarket revenue. Beemer also isn’t that adjustable in terms of rider modes. When in comparison to skyhook/ducati electronics it’s very restrictive

  11. Had this and the RSV4 in my sights, but if I upgrade soon, it'll be a V4S I think.

  12. On the plus side, sag could be set up manualy. It made a huge difference.
