Streetfighter V4r

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by folbjo, Oct 16, 2021.

  1. Want to discuss some thoughts with you.
I have a Panigale V4R, and have plans to convert it to a Streetfighter V4R.

    Is it madness?
    Has it been done before?

  2. Aye, that’ll be a mental thing to ride alright.

Speaking from experience there will be a number of things to look out for. Most will be bolt on bits and bobs from Ducati but the things to be very careful of (potentially expensive to replace) are electrics (full loom) and hydraulic lines.
I’d bet a reasonable amount of money the Superbike loom and brake lines etc will not reach the handlebar controls of the naked. There’s a chance you can reroute but I’d bet it’s not really possible. And if you can it’ll very possibly look naff and work fine until you move the steering when everything goes tight as twang and breaks!!
Then think about top yoke fitting forks and mounting brackets for headlights etc, are the frames the same and have the associated mounting points specific to the naked? These actually have a good chance of being bolt ons I would estimate though.

230+ bhp in a naked is gonna be a riot, not for the faint hearted. Make sure you know what you’re getting into before spending many thousands (coz it will be) to do the change.

Speak to your local dealer but many hours of research will do you well here. And expect the unexpected. Looks easy normally means it’ll be a bitch of a thing.

  3. Is it madness? Yes, I think so.

Has it been done before? I doubt it, and for good reason.

Why not save yourself a shitload of cash, time and and pain? Get a V4S Streetfighter and bling the tits off it?

  6. Thanks for the input on this. My Panigale V4R is here, so it could have been very exciting, but if I am to be a little realistic in this, it is crazy to convert this fantastic and rare Ducati for this purpose. It makes more sense to flip it for an SFV4SP when it shows up in the spring. Love the aluminum tank, and a Ducati should, in my eyes, be red. Personally, I do not like black Ducati, but this is very easy to change.

  7. I converted a 2008 Gixer thou.
    LSL bars and top yoke.
    Cables reached, just.
    New brake lines required.
    Bars just cleared the screen.
Other bikes will be different though.

Also, handling, the gixer ran wide on corners after wards. Front end needed dropped (maybe 10mm if memory serves)
Wind blast will be ridiculous. It was like sticking your head in the tumble drier over 80mph.

Apart from that, the bike was a lot of fun...
