Nice New 950 Sss......but.....

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by Speedy23, Oct 16, 2021.

  1. OK peeps, D-Day arrived yesterday, and took delivery of new steed. Many thanks to Coventry Ducati for a (mostly) trauma-free experience..
But those levers! Any suggestions for a nice pair of adjustables? Really needs them to compliment the rest of the bike!

@Derek - RAM ball fitted and ready to go. Thx for the tip.

But - levers apart (and I suppose they do the job..) still really chuffed with it! Excellent bike.

    Cheers

    S23.

  2. Nice. What’s wrong with the levers? Don’t have any issues with mine but I don’t have big hands. Panniers suit it. Just done a massive tour of the Pyrenees on mine, just brilliant. My fuel gauge played up tho (and still is) mine is 939 nit 950

  3. Congratulations looks fabulous

How are you getting on with the mirrors ?

  4. You have a smile as big as mine was when I picked up my 939 SS a couple of years ago. Did many thousands of touring miles on mine. Only bit that was crap was those Ducati panniers, they look like an afterthought stuck out in the wind rather than being snugly fitted. I decided to go down the route of fitting a set of Ducati ST2 panniers on a custom made quick detachable rack on mine.
The bike is great for covering big distances.

  5. @Vader @Carr01, thx for replies. Vader, the levers just don't gel for me with rest of styling...too "rounded" if you know what I mean, I feel as if something a bit more angular would be better...(might be just me, though)...Carr, don't have a particular problem with the mirrors...sure, seen better....and worse. I can see enough to keep track of what's happening behind, and that's what's important to me.

But very impressed with handling..the Pirelli Diablos seem very good...just wonder how long they'll last.

And my little Shad tank bag fits very well. And as a bonus, uses the same fitting kit I had for the FJR so everyone's a winner!

Just looking forward to getting it run in, now. Seems to be very eager, just the Yellow trail on the tach keeps breathing down my neck. But not long to go.

    Very pleased with it. :upyeah:

  6. I fitted a Shad tank bag, impressed with it. I like how it fits with just those 3 pins sticking up, looks much better than those ugly discs fitted to the fuel filler ring.
I love my SS, in a few Years will look to upgrade to a new (ish) 950. I’ve done 6000 miles over the last 2 years, great bike

  8. I went for Evotech adjustable levers and they’re great. They’re more substantial and match the bike well. Easy to fit, good quality and work great.

  9. Yes! Just what I'm after. They do look nice. Thx for this, LF. :upyeah:

  10. They are exactly the same as the Chinky ones that I bought from ebay when I fist got the bike. Mine were still good after 3 years and 30k miles when I sold the bike.

  11. As said above nothing wrong with the Ching Chong levers from Wish or wherever in my opinion. Have used them on all my bikes and not once has the lack of an etched brand name on the lever caused me to die or the bikes fail or indeed the bike to explode.

  12. That said the use of the words ‘Chinky and Ching Chong’ will probably trigger some people.

  13. Especially when you consider the brutal oppression of the Hong Kong population and maybe soon to be war with Taiwan
Apart from that, hey that make cheaper goods so let’s keep buying their stuff.

    But I digress
    Nice levers.

  17. That is funny, where do you think British manufacturers get their stuff made? People like Dyson and Triumph, much nearer to China than the UK. Have a quick look where your iphone, TV, and just about every other appliance was made.
I am just cutting out the middleman and his huge mark up.
While we are on the subject where is the Ducati Scrambler made?
