848 Ride height adjuster install

  1. I've finally bitten the bullet and purchased a Ducati ride height adjuster in preparation for next months track day/ suspension set up.

Before I start to install as per the workshop manual, I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has any tips or quick ways to install rather than removing all the stuff the manual says you need to.

  2. Other than a hugger if you have one there is not much else you 100% have to remove other than the old link. You can just about get to the lower mount if you have a short hex key without removing the headers. If you want to get techy and use a torque wrench you will need more room though.

The must item is something to support the bike to unload the suspension like an abba stand etc.

  3. Thanks for the tips, had a little look earlier and figured that may be an option.
Had a little look earlier and just need to check if my Allen key will fit in as well as figure a way of supporting bike due to lack of abba stand. Will have a look to see if there's a way of suspending from garage ceiling with ratchet straps.

  4. and a ride height tool to set it up with..............you can start by setting it to the same length as the original..

  5. If you have fixed pegs you can put axle stands under them, or run bar thru the swingarm and do same

  6. I'm hoping to just set it to the same length as the old one for now as I have some time booked with Colin from 100pc suspension when I'm at Silverstone next month.

good idea about bar through swingarm as rear sets with fixed pegs are still on the wish list at the moment

  7. This was a shock swap, obviously with just the ride height adjuster you don't have to go this far but it might give you an idea.

  8. Thanks Startline, made a start on the job earlier. Although I can get an Allen key in there it's too tight (no surprise there) and no space to get any leverage so no in the process of taking exhausts off to get a socket in there.

  9. Stick a socket on the short end of the allen key and use to lever...works for me :upyeah:

  10. Not convinced there's room for that with the rear wheel on as I haven't got round to buying a socket for the rear wheel yet:rolleyes:

  11. You using a standard allen key? L shape thingy? If so, I thunk its 8mm but may be 6mm socket fits n the end and you can then add a ratchet and it gives leverage. Sure thats what I did and I have an 848

  12. Well turns out that now matter what I tried to do using an Allen key it just wasn't working so the exhaust came off in the end which in fairness is simple enough.
Ride height adjuster now fitted and bike going back together
