  1. I've been out the saddle a while and I'm close to an 1198s as advised on another thread.

But London insurance prices for a rider back on the road after 8 years or so is astonishing.

Any tips on providers that are fairly reasonable? Sadly 0 no claims.

  2. Have you spoken with BeMoto? If not give them a call.

    Oh and thread moved ;)

  6. There's obviously Ducati Insurance, once they were easily the cheapest but no longer for me so as has been suggested BeMoto.

Don't bother with MCE, if the quote you have now is staggering multiply that by 10 and you'll be close with MCE.

  7. Well, best I've found for an 1198s is £1599. Bemoto won't touch me for the first year. Which seems to be the case all around, which is odd as I'm.not new to biking. Quite experienced actually, but the 9 year gap is a stumbling block.

Will have to take it on the chin.

  8. This is exactly what happened to me earlier this year for a V4. It was a gap of 4 years for me, but still astronomical quotes.

Initially, I didn't bother with the Ducati Insurance as I assumed it would be even more expensive as a branded insurance. I got speaking to my local Ducati dealer who suggested giving them a try anyway and I used the dealers direct number rather than the general Ducati Insurance number. Not sure if this made a difference, but the quote was very good, only a quarter of the cost of the previous lowest quote (which, admittedly, was stupidly expensive).

Roll on next years insurance hunt with some recent history :)

  9. Good tip. Will give them a try!

  10. Run it through MCN compare and see what it comes up with, depending on how well you can secure the bike when not in use you may need to suck up a big year one excess to get a decent premium and ge a bit of ins history under your belt,

  11. Don't talk to me about insurance polices as i just been hit yesterday with an change of address.

  12. Bemoto; gps tracker & garage + ground anchor.

You will get discount also if you do Rospa or IAM Road-craft course (advanced rider qualification).

  13. I had the same problem when I returned to road riding a couple of years ago. All but a couple of insurers wouldn't touch me with what they regarded as zero experience (been riding on & off since 1974!). I eventually found Motorcycle Direct who charged me about £600 for the first year on my 939Hyper. They're probably not unusual by wanting to charge me every time I call them, but I've now got a 2-bike policy with them which doesn't seem too expensive. Will certainly be looking around next year tho'...

  14. Sadly, living where I do the premiums are huge! Still. On Friday when I get my new toy, all will be forgotten
