V4 Mts V4 S Front Wheel Change

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by TonyC, Oct 30, 2021.

  1. Interesting. Had the 17” conversion on the GS been done properly, both back and front rims and wheels aligned?
The one I rode, an older 1150 was rock solid.

  2. Don't see how that helps with the width between the forks and if there is room for the standard 120 front wheel.

Anyhow by the time you've brought the wheels, found or made the right spacers, sorted out the ABS ring and figured out if you can fit a front mudguard are you sure you wouldn't have been better of just sucking up the price of the PP?

  3. Yes it had the RS swing arm in to re align the 190 section tyre (off set) and front correct as well , but it just wasn't quite rite and also touched down too easily for me . The PP has addressed this with the adjustments to the chassis , peg position etc .
The best way to do it , factory.
The high speed was also affected by the change on the gs and would start weave over 100 ish on certain roads . For me the garage adaptions add to much change to an existing and capable bike (GS) and this would also apply to an altered V4s.IMHO of course.

  4. Pouring petrol on to a dying fire, I've just eyeballed up my V4S multi rear wheel clearances to Chain run/Swingarm and there appears to be acres of space to fit a wider wheel, in that there is certainly enough for a 5.5" and possible a 6" rim and I suspect easy clearance for a 180/55 maybe 190/55 tyre. The V4S front disks are 200mm apart so wondered if that matches current SBK fronts obvs just pondering this for a friend with a mind who may like to fiddle and create a tank slappy behemoth with racer front geo and a chassis on stilts .
