So despite saying to myself after my Multistrada got written off that I would give biking a break for a while I already find myself "shopping" I had a 1100 dark pro while my multi was in for a service and really enjoyed it so if () I do get urge I'll probably be looking at used unless Ducati come up with some crazy deals on new? So apart from the exhaust and numberplate position changes are there any significant differences between the 18-20 1100's and the 20 onwards ones? Rather liking the look of the "special" model with the spoked wheels, grey tank and brown seat, seen a few low milage used available. Also anyone know what they're like 2 up? The mrs likes to come along once in a while and she loved the Multistrada but not being the tallest I found it hard work and a little daunting 2 up at slow speeds and at junctions etc always fearful I would get caught off balance and drop it so figured ill be far more sure footed on a scrambler.
I swapped from a Mutli to a SCR1100 (2020 model) too for similar reasons. My missus won’t ride pillion on the SCR so I can’t give you a very informed answer I’m afraid but I can’t imagine it’s a bike any reasonably sized adult would want to ride pillion on for any length of time. I imagine it would be a tad cramped on there. But as stated Ive no practical experience here. I don’t think there’s any major differences between model years other than exhaust and a paint job. The Sport Pro is more cafe racer style than scrambler. It’s nice though. I have the plain Sport as I wanted a more upright riding position. The Special has really nice styling in my opinion.
