Brake/clutch Line Replacement

  1. Does anyone on the forum have any experience of changing the brake/clutch lines for Goodrich type hoses, what’s involved regarding the ABS system etc,2015 Monster 1200s…..thanks

  2. I haven't done one but it will be quite expensive as you'll need 5 lines. Each circuit runs from the master cylinder to the ABS unit under the tank and from there to the callipers. The OEM hoses are partly hard pipe, under the tank and behind the engine, and on some models there is little room to fit braided hoses following the original route. The OEM hoses are braided where they are not hard pipe. The only reason I can see for changing them is if they get damaged or, more likely, the banjos at the calliper ends get corroded.
Hoses are 7, 8, 28 & 19 below and the crossover hose to the LH calliper which isn't listed for some reason.

  3. Maybe just the visible pipes then,as you say if it’s hard piped why change

  4. You won't be able to change the visible pipes. They are one piece with the hard pipe.

  5. D stands for Ducati…Difficult

  6. There’s nothing to gain…. The flexible lines are braided steel already. The hard pipes have even less flex.

  7. The MTS have a similar brake line setup, I changed mine out of necessity when changing calipers. Hel had to custom make the lines. However they don't replicate the hard portions so it's braided hose all the way. This could also cause routing issues if space is tight.
