Any idea why this happens, it it just bent? Previous owner has wrapped black gaffa' tape around the end. 1993 750SS.
I don't own an SS but i had a look on ebay to see how it looks /goes together, I would take the complete stand off to check the backing plate it all bolts to has not got a slight bend in it and if not unbolt the stand and maybe put a washer to shim it over a bit as it might be worn from usage, i would think some part must be worn out, in the second link could be worn were the stand slots on to? Hi @gurth I have a ‘96 750SS carby and have just nipped to the garage to take some photos for you. Looks like your side stand is bent in comparison to mine.
My 900 ‘97 looks identical to yours except the previous owner welded a larger foot plate on it to help with parking on a soft surface
had a quick look on ebay think the one fitted on your bike is possibly one off a monster instead of an ss loads of different side stands between models that look similar but not the right fit
Stand was removed and it was clear that the plate up near the top where it is fixed had bent over time. Heated and knocked back into shape with the knock'ometer aka thumb finder(hammer). Bike sits upright a lot nicer now: 750ss 1995 Swingarm Damaged From Exhaust Bracket - Repair?
