Yet Another 900ss Butchered

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Steve E, Aug 15, 2021.

  1. The case had already had a repair so I took it to MCS engineering to check it out.
They tidied up the repair a bit and said it should be good to go. I guess I'll find out for sure when I get it running.

  2. The swinging arm was fitted this afternoon. I might be worrying over nothing, but the front sprocket is fouling the swinging arm in some positions. New standard 15 tooth sprocket has been fitted to replace the 14 that was on the bike when I got it. I put the old one back on and that's fine. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this before. 100_2819.JPG 100_2823.JPG

  3. I'd say it's most likely that you're checking the clearance with the swingarm in positions that are outside it's normal range

  6. I've had a couple of days holiday this week, so got most of the wiring sorted.
After a lot of thought decided to order an Exact Start cable upgrade. 100_2843.JPG 100_2844.JPG 100_2846.JPG 100_2847.JPG 100_2849.JPG

  10. After testing positive for covid I haven't felt like doing much, although a couple of hours were spent in the shed this morning.
The owners had their hearts set on an Ohlins rear shock, but can't seem to get hold of one. 100_2866.JPG

  14. Thanks for the link. I sent them an email last week to see if they had the shock in stock, but didn't get a reply.
About a month ago I ordered one from HPS after being told that Ohlins had 2 in stock in Germany.
I contacted them after 3 weeks to see where the shock had got to, and was told there had been a mistake. Ohlins didn't have any in stock, and won't be making any more until September.

  15. Hi Steve, bad luck about the Covid, hopefully just a mild case.

I meant to ask earlier on in your build..about your tank. Was it purchased or did you fabricate it?

    Thx.
    Grant

  16. Hi Grant. MCS in Brightlingsea fabricated the tank and side panels.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  17. What about a Maxton unit, as an option ?

  18. These guys do excellent work, they did the tank for my bobber & will be doing the tanks for my next bobber, hopefully :upyeah:

  19. I suggested the Maxton to the owners, but they had their hearts set on the Ohlins.
Managed to find one in the States, so that should be here in the next few weeks.
