  2. Are you sure about DRC being made in the UK?

  3. Although it doesn’t expressly say they do on their website it does suggest they do with the comment “Not only do we manufacture our own suits & gloves……”

  4. I used to be, now I'm not so sure..

Go on, put us out of our misery, tell us where they are made?

  5. Lets say it is a lot closer to where Triumphs are now made than to where Triumphs used to be made. (Nobody still thinks Triumphs are made in Hinckley, right?)

  6. The beauty of carefully worded ads. We manufacture often means we have a single Chinese/Pakistani/Indian (etc) provider we send your details to.

Remember discussing cloud data centre with a potential vendor ‘own private cloud’ actually was a DC based out of India…not exactly cloud solution : unamused:

  7. I've driven past their plant in Thailand...

    I think they’re known as Thaiumphs nowadays…

  9. Agree with the idea, my personal choice of manufacturer would be Hideout who are not a long way from where the OP is located. But ultimately the one point that stands out a mile in this thread is that made to measure is the way to go so long as a good manufacturer is chosen.

  10. The bollocks are pretty standard mate, it's the age-related sack length that caused the issue !

  11. I'd be inclined to agree but I had to work to a budget and am pretty lucky with off the peg (usually, except it seems with Dainese). The fit and quality of the RST kit, plus the bonus of an airbag seemed like the best choice.

    Pix to follow!

  12. Thousands of club racers up and down the country use these off the peg leathers, crash in them all the time, and they are fine :upyeah: Most leathers are made in Far Eastern sweat shops anyway. Just some U.K. retailers (or branded ‘manufacturers’) have more control over quality with inspections or on site presence

  13. They should be tight all over being stood up, and comfortable once on the bike if they are fitted correctly. Since swapping out to Kangaroo Dainese leathers I couldn’t go back to cowhide. Kangaroo is so much more softer and pliable, plus half the weight! Definitely worth the extra investment long term:punch:

  14. Well as you know I went with the RST Pro Aibag. £650 although if you’re the right size, Sportsbikeshop are going them at £599

Have to say I’m well chuffed.

    Go go Power Rangers!

  15. glad you're happy with it, but tbh to me it looks like the arms are definitely too short, the knee armour looks quite high up too.. what's it like sat on a bike with your legs bent and arms out stretched?

  16. I’ve got long arms mate. I’m happy to make that compromise.

Knee armour fine too mate, all in the right place when I'm on the bike.

  17. Interesting to read this - am just under 5'11, 90kg and have a 10yr old Dainese 1 piece (ok I have had 5yr break from bike track days whilst driving cars) - exactly as above its good on the bike but at the end of a track day my shoulders / neck were aching as its tight in a vertical direction. Suit is a 54. I tried on again this week and same experience. Not sure if Dainese fit has changed at all over the years. I generally default to Dainese kit as I just like it - but maybe time to shop around now as I was finding that by the end of the day, I was in some discomfort. I also found that the leathers have not given over time.
Looking on Sportsbikeshop.com, its interesting to see that their 4 top rated one piece suits are all RST. Similarly, I wouldnt have tried these out a few years back, but will now look into them a bit more carefully.
Bigjimmyb - assume you can stand up in the RST's ok?

  18. Yes it’s perfectly comfortable. If you can get somewhere to try some suits on, given my experience I’d recommend it.

Iffy quality was mentioned above on RST, but although I haven’t spent much time in it, I have to say I think it’s better than the Dainese. Just my personal opinion. I really wanted a Dainese too!

Some helpful reviews on YouTube too, although not all are specific to the airbag version (the bonus for me on that was a Black Friday deal on the In and Motion airbag ‘brain’ subscription. BTW In and Motion gear is also being used in other brands, notably Furygan).

Anither BTW…..you’re only 3-4kg heavier than me so thinking abt it you could order the RST from Sportsbikeshop and try it on. Returns process is quick and easy too if it’s not right.

Let us know how you get on.

  19. Thx Jimmy - will do

  20. Mine is off the shelf Alpinestar, Techair compatible and I’ve got the airbag vest also, it fits perfect. I used to work in the trade so have a fair idea and then took my mate who’s a pro on it as he’s worked for 20 years in the trade also.

I would say they were my best kit purchase but I picked up some Supertech R boots for £299 and expected them to be protective but uncomfortable and they are the nicest boots I’ve ever worn. I only change my kit min 4-5 years so I really take my time picking it
