Anyone Have Any Experience With The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory?

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by Sicilian, Dec 1, 2021.

  1. Yes it is, the quality is outstanding and the fit was faultless....but expensive!

  2. Thats good to know,thanks.
They were out of stock when I inquired in Sept. Ive to check back with them Jan.
Not a fan of the rsv4 bellypan that some owners fit.

  3. Looks great.

  4. I’ve got a 2017 Factory and done a little over 10k miles and she’s an absolute weapon. There’s a reason she won MCN super naked of the year for the last….ever as they’re brilliant at everything, particularly scratching although I too have done a handful of 1,000 mile west coast 3-4 days blasts.

I've a couple of super sports bikes and I don’t find the Tuono remotely close wrt being canted forward/on wrists etc, pegs are high though and the only thing I think she’s missing is heated grips.

Like someone else said, I’ve thought of replacing her a few times and the only move I’d likely make is get a newer/lower mileage model….that’s similarly enhanced.

  5. I should add on a west coast tour 3 months ago I tried my mates new Streetfighter S. Amazing bike, brutal engine, slick shifting etc but impossible to do very big digits for long as your core or arms just can’t hang on.
Clearly not what it’s designed for but I was happy to swap back to my Tuono with its screen, I actually have a slightly taller touring Puig, and pass him on the next straight.

As fantastic as the Streetfighter is, no way is it worth the extra money over a Tuono F.

  6. Thats at best, on deepest darkest Scotland, nursing it to the first fuel station I could find.

But on a normal jaunt out with friends 100 miles per tank is what id expect

  7. It’s funny, most times Aprilia gets mentioned on here, there are numerous posts about how horrendously unreliable they are etc etc, like a recent post about the RS660 which I guess could be as it’s a new model. But I see Aprilia get quite a hard time, yet there is two pages of comments here with not a single mention (that I could see) of any reliability issues

  8. In 2002 I bought an Aprilia RSVR 1000 V twin, had it about 3 years and it never missed a beat, including the wettest trip up to Scotland I’ve ever done, I can remember laying in bed in the hotel listening to the horizontal rain lashing off the window and thinking “ I’ve got about 260 miles to do to get back home in this, that Mille will never start after the good soaking it’s had all night “
When we were packed and ready to go, it just fired up on the button, no drama’s :upyeah:

All my misconceptions about unreliable Italian bikes were totally unfounded, no better or no worse reliability than anything else imo

  9. You’re right, this year I had a couple of people compliment the bike, say they’d read great things but were put off by “things they’d read about problems”. Maybe I’ve been lucky, although the 3-4 other guys I know who have Tuono or RSVs of this generation have not had issues either.
Maybe I’ve been lucky, but try and buy, brilliant all round.

  10. Jaunt... LOL!

  11. My mates owned 3 and never had an issue, other than finding a dealer local to him interested in booking him in for a service. He has a 3 hour round trip for servicing……

  13. Any idea why she was travelling to Europe? TIA

  15. My mate has one. To be exact it’s a 2020 and it’s his third. When it’s due to change he will have a fourth. He used for everything: commuting when he can (most of the time), scratching, trackdays….here’s a link to one from Philip island a couple years ago. He reckons never had an issue.

  16. Same issue with my Diavel 1260S although I've fitted the Official Ducati Touring Screen to it over the weekend. Not a massive screen and doesn't look too bad, just need some dry weather now to test it out.
