  1. Next you should mount it under the headlight housing. It looks like shit when strapped on the belt cover...

  2. That’s a good looking yellow 999 mine has a 57mm oval pipe termi system, but it does need silver tape on the fairing to protect it!

  3. Having not posted here for a very long time [so long that the system has forgotten me] I thought I would post this as a guide to the novice to the different pipe systems for the 749 / 999. Its meant only to be interesting.

The full pipe system has pipework of equal length for the vertical and horizontal cylinders - the asymmetric [as delivered from Bologna] has a shorter vertical pipe. With the full system the gases are extracted more efficiently hence an improved top end performance. Each type of system sounds different as the full system will have pressure waves from each cylinder arriving at the rear of the can at the same time - with the asymmetric the pressure waves arrive one at a time and equally spaced. The full system is more booming with the asymmetric sounding aggressive but slightly higher pitched. The Leo Vince Titanium full system [as apposed to the Termignoni systems] represent the finest performance systems as fitted to the 999R / 749R. Each system should have its own fuel/air mapping matching the pipe system to the engine. Saying that a 999R I had was run with a Termignoni end can [no CAT] and standard asymmetric pipe work - it ran well with the standard ECU and had a great torque line - fitting a full pipe system it depends if you wish to sacrifice a little lower rev performance for the top end gain.

I do remember the 999R with the Termignoni end can and asymmetric pipework as revving when blipping the throttle sounding like a peal of shotguns going off - its a little trick to scare the pedestrians into watching where they are going.

The 999R [my05] and the last homologation was almost two time over-square and I think was only just outdone by the Desmosedici in this respect.

  4. That was my fault Sev, sorry, posted my horn pic on the wrong thread months ago.

  5. At the risk of being moved deleted…that’ll learn ya not to mess with @Sev ’s thread!
