1200 D Air System Failure

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Gibbo568, May 18, 2020.

  1. The D air light came on recently, showing "airbag fault"
Obviously, due to the current situation, I couldn't get it to a dealer until last week for an annual service and a look at the airbag fault.
D Air control unit faulty, cost, over £600 plus vat plus fitting and configuring.
Removing the D Air fuse gets rid of the light, but not the warning on the Matrix display
Does anyone have any ideas where I can look for a used D Air control unit?

Bike is 15 plate, (14 year model) so a repair to a redundant system is going to be a large percentage of the bikes value.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. Hope you get things sorted, have you not reached out to Dianese?

  3. Isn't that telling you the jacket has a fault? Have you had the jacket serviced?

  4. I had a similar fault on my D-Air, I didn’t have a jacket though, where the DAir light stayed on. I was still able to ride the bike
I got my unit repaired under warranty But it took ages to get the part from Italy.
Sorry I can’t be of more help

  5. You do have to get the jacket serviced every 2 years I think.
Can you ask about a goodwill claim from Ducati if it turns out to be the bike?

  6. Thanks for the replies.
The bike is well out of warranty, (2015 reg, bought from non Ducati dealer) and I don't have a Dianese jacket, so its definitely the bike system.
I can still ride the bike, but my plans for a change in the near future are probably on hold.
I haven't spoken to a dealer about a part ex with the bike as it is at the moment, but I cant see the outcome being very good!

  7. Sorry, I have no information regarding part number or manufacturer.
I will try to get the part number from the dealer, the parts list I have does not cover any airbag systems

  8. I'l have a look, it will be a couple of days coz I'm back at work tomorrow.

  9. Check the cables running around/under the front mudguard. They can chafe. One is for the accelerometer that the suspension uses, but is also used to trigger the D-Air when fitted.

  12. I had this light come on earlier this year. Cost me £800 to get fixed. Needed new accelerometer and reset code from Ducati UK to clear the fault.

  13. ok je vais l'amener chez Ducati. Merci

  14. Once your dealer changes the accelerometer, they have to get a reset code from Ducati HQ. The dealer software can't clear it as it is a safety device and only the HQ can issue the code. Good luck.

  16. D accord. Je comprend mieux. Merci pour cette info✌

  17. I only repaired mine as I have the D Air jacket. If if known at the start it was going to be £800, I'd have asked if the D Air could be disabled or stuck a piece of black tape over the warning light.

  18. Oui je comprends. Moi je n'ai pas la veste. Donc je vais essayer de réparer au moins cher. Je pense que la désactivation du système air bag est impossible.
