Hamilton Spoiler!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Arquebus, Nov 6, 2020.

  1. I was rather surprised that the BBC radio listeners voted Max the driver of the day as usually Hamilton would get that when he wins.

  2. He’s trying. Sometimes it’ll feel like he’s taken a knife to a gunfight. When the Mercs get it range on a straight they’re irresistible. Through the twisties it’s all square.

  3. I've just heard the 9pm news on the car radio when driving back from a late sunday meal, bastards where was the spoiler then.

  4. BBC never put a spoiler out. They are still sore from losing the highlight rights to channel 4. My advice if you are going to watch highlights (which often cuts out the crappy bits, so better) is to avoid all news from the race time until the highlights, especially the BBC.

  5. If I don’t want spoilers for any sports, it’s really easy. I just put my library of music on and cut out any external comms. I don’t go online etc.

    It’s almost like magic..

  6. Wow, who said F1 was boring after that race, the master and pupil doing battle but the pupil playing dirty in my opinion.
Let's hope we get a Rossi / Lorenzo final race with Lewis coming out on top.

  7. Err, how the fuck will that work??

  8. Catalunya 2009.:upyeah:

  9. MV 10 second penalty, which did not alter the result 1 iota and 2 points on his licence.
Totally laughable penalty considering the possible consequences and what is at stake.
A more suitable penalty would be 10 seconds added to the Abu Dhabi qualifying time, or a pit lane start.
MV also needs warning if he deliberately causes a crash with LH he will loose 25 championship points.

  10. Why would the F1 authorities do anything other than what they have done. First time in decades it’s (the racing) actually interesting so why spoil a good fight? It’s a business first and foremost, like most “sport” these days.
A pit lane punch up would be epic. Handbags anyone?

  11. For the first time in years F1 has sparked an interest in me, I might just have to watch the last race.

  12. Exactly! F1 has been an absolute snore fest for the last 10 years. All this recent agro and everyone's up in arms. I think it's been brilliant watching the little tosser LH having his feathers ruffled. I'll definitely tune in next week. Hope MV wins but I doubt it. We'll see.... :D:upyeah:

  13. firstly, the BBC didn't "lose" the rights to F1, they sold them to C4
IMHO its all contrived, LM and MV backed up by the teams and the Stewards have generated this whole scenario in a desperate attempt to make F1 interesting and to catch headlines.
F1 out grew the tracks years ago, even that new Saudi track with 200 yds and a 90 degree bend from the start was always going to be carnage.
Racing that relies on slowing the lead car down on straights? , tyres that last 10 laps, safety
cars that wipe out any advantage for anyone that builds a lead ?
Its not really racing is it. Even a race ? like yesterdays was won by the stewards. You go back 3 places, you let him pass, you let him pass and dont re overtake him, you, 5 second penalty.
    Nonsense.

  14. I’ve always resisted this argument & certainly Max isn’t the first to be acting like this, but I think the case is there now to say that this is not acceptable.
Because of his higher win ratio this year, all Max has to do next race is to drive into Lewis “accidentally” & the title is his.
His driving style is exciting & the sport needs him but not at the extent of getting himself or someone else killed because he won’t give up a lost corner. Time & again he’s done that this year & he’s largely gotten away with it. Others including LH aren’t entirely blame free either but with Max, you almost expect it now. Time for the FIA to act I’m afraid

  15. I think it's clear that everyone who's commented on this thread wouldn't miss the last race "for the world"! :)

  16. Let's hope Max keeps it clean and others don't interfere with the proceedings.

  17. I will happily miss the next race, i have missed all the others :)

  18. Bet you don’t ;) Possibly hypothetical now, as you could purposely not watch it just to win the bet LOL

  19. Ha ha
The problem is you have to care who wins..... :)
You have to sit through endless mind numbing puerile adverts :)
You have to hope someone will break down, get a puncture or crash in order for their to be any excitement and the bottom line is...the stewards will probably play a bigger part in the result than the drivers.

F1 put itself behind a paywall and hopefully it will stay there :)
"SKY" believe in paying for what you used to get for free..

  20. There’s no adverts on sky during the race.
Statistically speaking we are watching the greatest ever F1 driver at his prime and he’s British so I care who wins
The tactics on and off the track are part of the race and they always were
& lastly, i’m certainly no apologist for sky and they are slowly pricing themselves out of the market, on that we can agree!
