Good evening to all, So my 748 is back in one piece after a few months of engine work & mechanical repairs and I’m now starting to go over the bike in other areas (handling and braking) & I’ll be having the forks and shock rebuilt but I’d quite like an ohlins damper. I’ve found one off a ZX6-R which is stamped SD1911 and I’ve found a mount bracket for ohlins to 748. The question I have is- will this damper be compatible with said mount bracket & will it work?! Thanks!
That’s a shame… I thought I was onto something there!! Thanks for the information, I shall keep looking!
Try it. So long as the damper does not reach the end of its travel at either end before the bike hits end of steering lock all is good. Even then, you have options to limit steering lock or reduce the distance between the damper pivot point and the steering centre by modifying the bracket. Where there is a will…
There appear to be several models that fit. The Ohlins on my 916 is stamped 'SD1222', don't know if that helps...
OK, not sure why I got that model (can't even remember where I got it?) but I can confirm that it fits fine and has sufficient stroke end to end but then I guess the MV is basically the same setup anyway?
Not quite the same, MV has two frame mounts versus one on the 9** series bikes. If it works though, who cares.
