Oil Change

  1. Evening All

last year while dropping the oil I found fragments of the plastic sprockets in the oil. I decided to change them while I had everything apart. I’ve dropped the oil again for the up and coming season and again found bits of the plastic sprocket again. My question is how often do you change these over I only cover 3-4000 miles a year.

also how often would you recommend stripping the sump and clear the mesh??
The service manual recommends every 2nd oil change ?

  2. Hi - intrigued to know what the plastic sprockets you mention are.

  3. Theirs two within the clutch casing. I think one is for the water pump and something else…

  4. I see. Doesn’t sound too good to have them disintegrating and ending up in the oil. Is this a known issue on 899s etc?

  5. Unfortunately it is…. Sure 1199 has the same issue

  6. Change them for steel items.

  7. Drop the casing off and check them. It could have been remnants from the last time ..
