Optimate Lead For A V2?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by sinewave, Jan 5, 2022.

  1. Is there one that plugs in to the lead under the seat or is that for Diagnostics only?

Is the only option on a V2 to wire one direct from battery?

    Cheers in advance!

  2. There is an adaptor that fits into the diagnostic socket to connector an Optimate with an SAE connector. But lat year Ducati change from a 4-pin diagnostic connector to a 6-pin one. The 4-pin adaptor is readily available but as far as I know, to date the 6-pin is only available from Ducati.

  3. Oh OK, cheers for the info.

Didn't really want to mess around with fairing removal if poss so I'll ring the Dealers when they're back open and order one up.

  4. Update!

You can't buy just the lead from Ducati Dealers it seems.
Only way is to buy a Ducati badged charger which comes with 3 lead adapters in the box.
    Direct connection to the Battery
The older 4 pin Ducati lead
The new 6 pin Ducati lead!

All optimate gear by the look of it also!

  5. What is it you need? I may have one :)

  6. Thanks for the effort guys but I've bought the Ducati charger now complete with all 3 lead adapters.

TBH it wasn't that dear at £80 all in.
I have a spare Optimate charger now so might as well connect that to the poor RGV250 which isn't trickle charged atm!
