1199sl, 1299sl, Or D16rr

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by dieonthishill, Jan 20, 2022.

  1. I am currently looking for my next bike and thinking of getting something a bit special. I am torn between the 1199 Superleggera, 1299 Superleggera, or the Desmosedici. Any thoughts from the group? Looking for something fun to ride while also a potential increase in value over time. The latter isn't that important though.

    Any help would be great!

  2. Desmo!

  3. The 1299SL is the one that won't kill you, the electronics are very sophisticated. The D16RR is probably the most fragile of the 3 which had 2 major recalls for a small number of bikes with oval pistons and several with sticking throttle bodies. Andy

  4. Desmo. No contest...

  5. 1299 SL. Best of the bunch.

  6. 1199 or 1299, just another panigale

  7. SL is not just another panigale, but I get your point the desmo is unique

  8. Desmo. No question.

  9. My only 2 concerns with the Desmo are maintenance costs and the fact I have a V4 already…

  10. Big servcie on a desmo is (allegedly) 50 hours of workshop time. And into 5 figures cost. May be myth, may not be, but it’s a chunk of a bill

  11. First world problem! But FWIW, Desmo.

  12. as said, no contest, the last one.

  13. Turns out my local dealer isn't certified to work on it... so looks like its down to the 1299 or 1199 superleggera

  14. If the latter isn't that important, 1299SL all day. If it was important I'd say the Desmo all day- but only ridden occasionally. I've never really thought of the Desmo as 'replica' but more of a tribute.

  15. I'm biased but Desmo all day long.

The 1199 and 1299 SL's will be a far more refined and reliable bike, but it's fundamentally still a Panigale in looks, ergo's etc.

  16. Desmo. The others are just tarted up normal bikes. (Apologies to owners, theyre still lovely) The Desmo is special.

  17. Is there another dealer/specialist indie within striking distance who could work on it? The consensus on here seems to be for the Desmo.
