V4 Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steelboss, Oct 10, 2021.

  1. Coming from a full akra on a Streetfighter V4s it seems cheap

  2. True I'm coming from akra end cans on SFV4S and that was bad enough. To think we used to spend £250 for micron end cans back in the day. got change from that for this one.....another bike should have kept

  3. Exhausts are crazy prices. I remember back in the day sticking a Raven Racing can on my CBR600F Sport which was a local guy who made them up to order. Looked great and sounded nice for less than £200.

Akra though are extremely well made and had one on my Fireblade 954 (bought off a mate) and it sounded so subtle at tick over and then a proper noise when it opened it up. Don't think I could stomach £3-4k on a bike system though!

  4. I dont know how is about you guys but I have ordered my PP here in Sweden (estimated arrival date 11 February) with full Akra system installed but I just got information that the exhaust systems are delayed and the estimated delivery time only by 11 April with no warranties yet... can be much later. So unfortunately I will have to wait a few months until the set up is complete.

  5. That’s a good estimates delivery date for the bike. I ordered mine on Saturday and was told September delivery.

  6. My dealer has my exhaust ready to fit to the bike once it arrives.

  7. Most likely he already had it in stock?

  8. Did you guys pay extra to have the systems fitted?
I’m not in the market, but my dealer said it took almost 6hrs workshop time to swap one over

  9. If any of you ride the PP with the stock exhaust then fit the Akrapovic it would be interesting to hear what you think of it by comparison.

The Akrapovic on my 1200 transformed it.

  10. Possibly.

  11. My dealer is fitting any accessories I order for free as part of the deal.

  12. Same on my 1260. Best mod I’ve done on that bike, no question.

  13. I takes 1.5 hours for anyone competent with spanners to fit the Akra system on the Multi V4 …not six hours. I know as have done it myself.

Upmap with the code that comes with the exhaust gets mapped to your bikes VIN (but is still transferable to another bike) and is about 30 mins labour/cost but must be done using at a Ducati dealer.

The difference is night and day. Not obtrusively loud at tick over but much, much freer breathing (two pipes to the back box helps) more responsive, much deeper and better sounding throughout the range. Baffles can also be removed but really don’t need to IMO.

Not sure how it would go down in much of Europe with the noise cameras/fines now though.

  14. Did you just ride it back to the dealer to get the upmap loaded?

  15. Yes, no issues with that… it was only a relatively short distance. I checked that the dealer was ok with me fitting and them mapping it first.

  16. I wonder if the Akra has the 'For Race Use Only' warning on it as I will be touring abroad and dont want to be impounded !!!

  17. No it doesn’t

  18. Yes ! they charge for the installation!! . The quotation in Sweden is around 600€ installation only... I manage to negotiate the price down to 200 € though.
