Looking at treating myself to a new helmet, having always wanted a Simpson I was all set to go for a 'Venom' when I saw the Ruroc Atlas - looks very neat indeed, (and they have just released a new model, the Atlas 4.0) The reviews/feedback is VERY mixed so thought I'd ask on here if anyone has user experience. Cheers.
Had a 2.0 for a few months, Pros: Looks good Light Kept me safe at a low speed impact Cons: Loud Audio module is affected by the above Audio hard to use on the fly Coating on visors not very good (will need pinlock) Padding not as good as others Aeros (motorway speeds) Mine after landing on my face.
Thank you very much for the feedback Nostromo, noise seems to be a regularly mentioned issue, along with fit/comfort and quality of construction. Glad to see it worked when you needed it to
Ruroc does seem to be pioneering impact protection for helmets – long overdue innovation? MIPS had a go at innovation, but the uptake by lid manufacturers appears low. (Although numerous cycle helmets have MIPS.) I guess Bell’s holding onto MIPS for itself in motorcycling. And Klim bought into Koroyd for noggin protection, but who buys Klim lids? Ruroc seems (perhaps?) most likely to make commercial headway with head protection.
Reassuring; All Ruroc helmets are now manufactured by Ruroc's team in our own purpose built factory in China, which is headed up by members of our production team from HQ. This means we have full control over the every step of production including the materials, assembly methods and paint processes
Have decided not to risk getting one as it’s too much of a hassle getting one sent to this end of the world with the possibility it doesn’t fit to then have to return it. From the pics I have seen the chin/nose bar appears to be very close to the wearers nose and that would bug me.
Not sure if he still does but Teapotone was a wearer and did vlogs on Ruroc. for me I like comfort and fit with the added benefit of seeing them regularly tested by motorbike racers and that’s why I prefer Arai, yes I’m paying a premium.
