V4 Pikes Peak

  1. I don’t think I’ve followed manufacturer’s running in guidance for over 20 years and I’ve had no problems.

I don’t thrash the bike, nor do I labour the engine, looking for roads that make it easy to do the above.

You can fill an entire internet with advice on how to run in a bike and you’ll rarely find much agreement.

Treat it ‘fairly kindly’ until the first service and then unleash the ‘full English breakfast’!

  2. Yep, I’d go with that. I’ve had a few new bikes, and always just ride them normally. The worst thing you can do with a new bike is baby it.

  3. Does anyone with a PP know whether it has hill hold like the 1260? Can't see mention of it in the manual. I was hoping it would, and that it wouldn't timeout after 10 seconds like it does on the 1260

  4. Yes it does have it
I haven’t had chance to test it yet for how long it stays on for

  5. It stays on longer on the V4S than the 1200S I had previously.

  7. The dealer advised to keep mine below 7000rpm and use all the gears, don’t sit on the motorway for 600 miles and take it back 2 days later for the first service..

  8. I got mine last weekend

  9. I agree, that’s definitely not the way to run it in

  10. Yes it does. When stationary give a long hard pull on the front brake lever (or press on the rear brake pedal) and the VHC light will come on on the dash. It stays active for 180 secs. To release either just give more revs than usual as you pull away or give a quick double pull of the brake lever.

  11. This was improved, from originally about 9 secs, with a software update at service on my 1260, a big improvement.

  12. I didn't know is was for 180 Sec (3 minutes) ! so far in my riding it is very effective and I haven't had to stay in "hold" mode for more than 3 minutes. Useful to Know.

  13. I’m well pissed with my dealer, who promised me without doubt I’d get one of the first into the country as I ordered before the launch of the bike and not receiving info requested or even answers to questions. I’m well disappointed with them as I could have gone to other dealers but decided to support local.

  14. There is a PP I saw at my dealer today that must have had everything from the DP catalogue added to it but the best part for me was the bars, bar clamp and top yoke had been anodised black looked really nice and stood out really well.

  15. To be fair to your dealer, once the order is placed by them with Ducati, it’s completely out of their hands. I’m in the same position as you, I ordered before the bike was announced, and am still waiting.

I asked them to get in touch with Ducati this week, which they did, only to receive a generic non committal response back from them to say there’s a backlog due to parts shortages.

I’ve been told that mine is the next one due at my dealer from Ducati, and they could get invoiced for it any day now, so we’ll have to keep waiting. It’s a good job the weather is rubbish. Oh, hang on! :joy:

  16. I was told yesterday there is a big issue with parts like heated grips etc. Anything that needs a chip is a problem.

  17. Yes

  18. If I had been told all that when I ordered I could have taken the choice of going elsewhere to buy one, but I was assured they would have them the same time as everybody else. I had been to a couple of dealers, plus a mate of mine who lives near, me put his order in with a another chain of dealers weeks after me yet his was ready in February. It’s more about the broken promises and the trust thing for me.

  19. I tried for days to speak to them about a V2 Multi... could not get through... actually thats wrong ... no one picked up the phone on the 30 or so times I called...

Eventually spoke to them after an email... asking them to answer the phone...

Then they would not do much of a deal - but like you for a few hundred pounds prefered to stay local...

Then when I am about to order - they say delivery would be May or June.... when many other dealers had stock..

So I switched to Riders... Had a better discount - immediate availability (had 3 in showroom)... just waiting the low seat.
