1200 Multistrada Fuel Level Sender Failure. C B A To Fix It ?

  1. For those of you who have read my build thread turning a 2010 Multistrada from a Sports Tourer to a Track Weapon, you will know that my fuel sender failed. At 130 some odd quid for a new one, I felt the money would be better spent on fuel at the track. The question now, is “how to disable the annoying low fuel light and get rid of the ECU ‘Fuel Sender’ error message on the dash ?”.

Following a suggestion from the workshop, I have inserted a 20K ohm, 7 watt resistor into the fuel sender socket on the fuel pump loom. That is literally poked the bent ends of the resistor wire into the socket and covered in self amalgam insulating tape. Turned the ignition ‘ON’ and …………… tadah (trumpet fan fare) no annoying low fuel light and no error message. £2.37 (okay, £10.35 for 5 resistors and postage from RS) and the fuel gauge is seeing 9/10ths full.
