V4 Test Ride On A Multi V4

  1. Revs eh? That’ll be a challenge to get used to after 8 years on boxers :sob:

  2. At 16 years of age I was grinding the raised 72cc from the engine of my Honda SS50. Halfords black heat resistant paint, et voilà, road legalo_O o_O. The only 50cc :) four stroke locally that was anywhere near as quick as the Fizzers and AP50s.
Who would have thought that a 72 top end would bolt straight on, with just a carb set up required:upyeah:

  3. We were quite happy back then with 4 or 5bhp, I put a 65cc big bore on my Fizzy, could squeeze 63mph out of it on a cold day:joy:

  4. My first was at GT250. Flat out there was that much 2stroke smoke you couldn’t see behind me.

  7. Had an accident on my z1000 with a full system not last november but the one before (head on, bike was a write off) akra tail from my RSV4 shortened with no baffle and a full race arrow system. Bike got taken away an assessed - bike was written off but i bought it back (and got a good price to boot) - the exhaust was not mentioned.

  8. Lucky for you it would appear that they 'assessor' that was used was either blind, incompetent, disinterested, easily distracted or just plainly not bothered. Either way, good luck for you.........
Not looking to be controversial by the way, just pointing out you were fortunate, that time!
Hopefully your good luck will continue. ;)

  9. Agree. There will be always be variables in how insurance companies and their representatives undertake assessments with differing outcomes to tell.

In my case, I was taken out by another party which totalled my bike and almost myself. The other party's insurance company undertook an assessment of my bike to ascertain value and, when they finished, a report was sent to my insurance company and my solicitor claiming it 'appeared' there was an illegally modified exhaust fitted. Due to the damage, it took quite a bit of time and patience to show that the exhaust was actually legal and my insurance was valid but, there were a few weeks of worrying correspondence with my solicitors who were genuinely concerned that my claim would have been very badly affected if the bike hadn't been road legal.

At the end of the day, it's all about going in with your eyes wide open. I choose to play it one way while others will choose differently. However, I will admit I do occasionally listen to them go by with a bit of envy...... ;)

  10. The 950S is in for its Desmo this week, plus rear tyre, chain and sprockets, plus fixing the fuel sender and they're loaning me a V2S for a day two and a V4S for a day or two.

Let's see if I am persuaded to change my order (V2S to V4S).

I'm actually contemplating keeping the 950S for a bit longer once I've spent the money and swapping my deposit over for a Pikes Peak, so I get a year out of the new kit.

  11. It will be good to hear your thoughts on all three and interesting to see if the V4 tops your list. Enjoy. :upyeah:

  12. All this nonsense about insurance being cancelled. Try and find a case where it happened: not a ‘mate up pub said his mate…’ but factually where nothing else was wrong.

Sure you won’t get cost of those parts of written off but even if declared often you won’t anyway!!

  13. Out of interest, and not being arsey, can you point to any evidence (article or personal) that insurance is actually cancelled and not paid out where some mods weren’t declared?

  14. In a case where the third party is at fault (eg a SMIDSY) then your insurer will be claiming from the third party insurer and will care less about whether the bike you were riding is exactly the spec that you insured with them. IF however you were at fault then your insurer may look for any reason that they can find to not have to pay out the claim, in part or in full. That could then leave you open to a claim from the third party. Insurance companies are not there to pay out money - they are there to make money!

  15. May. Could. Possibly.
Insurers have to behave ‘reasonably’ when it comes to claims management.

  16. I actually text rode a mV4s April last year with intention of buying at dealers suggestion I rode a 1260s which I bought. MV4s was a bit like in-line 4 needed revving but it was the 17 in front of 1260 which sold it to me. Yes mV4s is 10-15% better everywhere but not for the price jump & insurance premium

  17. To be fair and to answer your question accurately, no I can't, not at this precise moment and I certainly won't be wasting too much of my or your valuable time trying to find any.
My whole point was simply based on the personal assessment of risk, plus the relevance of the modifications made and un-declared, not least when their is the potential for personal or 3rd party injuries, which could be serious, or indeed with a rather expensive bike, where the damage assessment might, I repeat might, end up with your insurance protection being questioned and pay-outs reduced or cancelled.
For my part, I would rather NOT take this risk, instead preferring (my choice) to declare changes to my bike, thereby avoiding any potential contention.
If you or others prefer to do otherwise, that's your prerogative, so go for it and benefit from the outcome, 'your outcome', in the event you need to make a claim. :expressionless:

  19. And reading the thread on the fake speed camera it will be sooner than later I bet there will be a police presence in that area in the coming weeks and there will be no getting away with it then.
