Sf V4s - What Mileage Do You Get Before The Fuel Light Comes On?

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Sicilian, Apr 28, 2022.

  1. Guys, as the title, apologies if this has been asked before. What mileage do you get before the fuel light comes on?

Bike is new to me and admittedly I've been pushing it a bit. The way I've been riding her I'm only getting around 75 miles before the light comes on.

Interested to hear what others are getting.

  2. One of our group last week was getting 95 before the light came on all of last week.

  3. Thanks, I filled up yesterday and reset trip 1, going to ride sensible for this tank full (IF I can) lol, see what I get. Filled up E5 at BP also as had been using E5 from Tesco's.

  4. I got 60 out of a demo bike before the light came on. Had to fill up twice. The SFV4 does not have a class leading range :joy: Andy

  6. Similar to what I get on mine

  8. 90 nearly all of the time. That is filling the bike sitting on it so it’s upright and you get a bit more in.
I think the most I have done on fuel light is about 32 miles.

  10. 3 runs over the mountain section on my RSV4 puts it into reserve...

  11. 80/85 ish and I'm running in. Shell VPower+.

I filled up with 12.1 litres having had the light on for ~10 miles and was on ~100 miles then. If you're sensible and watch your trip maybe 120-130 miles max..

  12. Good point here - I tend to top my bikes up in the garage and did get another litre or so in when actually it 'looked' full. Taking time at the pump could get you a bit further up the road for sure..

  13. I used to do that on my MV but found when I went in to pay (before pay at pump days) I’d come out to find i’d just paid for a puddle of fuel under the overflow :joy:

  14. 80 miles no matter what mode I'm in, I've gone 25 miles with the light on and put 15 and a bit litres in.
Think the on board computer lies like a conservative politicians!!!!!

  15. I think the V4 might be a little thirsty, best to pop over to the Multistrada V4 thread and ask them, but make sure you’ve put your tin hat on first

  16. Btw way guys, I've been in Sport mode, avg cons always seems to look good mid to late 40's consumption.

  17. I think I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever checked the MPG of my bikes, I just ride it until the light comes on, or the old school splutter and then the mad panic fumble for the petrol tap :joy:

  18. I get about 80-90 miles if cruising on the motorway. I got about 3-ish trackday sessions at Donnington Park from a full tank before refill. So if the bike was full to start with and you took a 20l jerry can, that should do you. Based on that, I'd say trackday consumption feels fairly normal, but road consumption isn't amazing.... Not sure if that makes any sense.

  19. An odd thing I noticed

On the way to the Plymouth ferry at sensible motorway and A road speed on constant ( ish) throttle mine was showing the fuel light at about 75 miles
In the picos thrashing the tits off her 1st 2nd and 3rd gear as you do the light was not showing until 90 -95 miles

The KTM 1290SDR was the other way - sipped fuel on the M way guzzled it in the mountains

  20. The Tuono V4 I traded in on my Multi a couple years ago was the same way ^ - I got better mileage thrashing it in 2nd gear in the twisties than I did around town, which was the worst. Freeway was not too bad.

My new SFV4SP’s light came on around 75. I filled it as full as possible while sitting on it to keep it upright and only got 3.8 gallons in it, so the light evidently comes on pretty early.
