848 Ignition Cut Out?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Helen, May 15, 2022.

  1. So I am no mechanic, but after owning my 848 for only a month (2012 plate only 3500k on clock), I went to take the bike to work today and despite the engine starting no problem, when I dropped it into first gear and the engine cut out????

Tried umpteen times and no joy!

I took it for a decent run 2 days previously with no problems. Am I missing something obvious here???

  2. Side stand cut out switch?

  3. Sounds like it, my first thought, if it's the same as the 999, disconnect the switch and short the 2 loom side wires together to eliminate, did this on my track bike ( as no side stand) but I'm sure a sage will be along Shortly with a more elegant solution

  7. As Sam says, we've all done it. I even rebuilt my clutch before I realised...Doh!

  10. Appreciate the solution, however I won’t be tinkering about with any wires… I’ll leave that to the mechanics!!

  11. We've all done it, I've been stupid enough to ride off with the side stand down, ( before the days of side stand switches)
