(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Cream_Revenge, Nov 15, 2018.

  1. About to start “musical chairs” with the bikes to make room for the new arrival. The track Multistrada is going to have displace the Panigale V4 from the utility room, the V4 will move to the garage (must get it advertised and sold) and the R6 will go into the hallway. Still got to decide in which order to line the bikes up in the garage. I’m not getting any younger and manoeuvring bikes into tight spaces doesn’t get any easier. First world problems though :D Andy

  2. Took it out for a run with the Arrow cans on to check for leaks etc, obviously tried it with DB killers out first, sounded glorious with my ear plugs in. Stopped halfway and took them out for the ride home and Jesus H Christ :astonished: even my ears were bleeding, I was riding through the village like “sorry, sorry, yep it’s me sorry” so I think I’ll put them back in (the DB killers, not the ear plugs) 9D563711-497E-45C6-8D2A-4617821F1DC3.jpeg

  5. After lunch, we collected one, shiny, new Monster and it now has 100 miles on the odometer. The weather this afternoon turned out a lot better than expected making the ride home from Winchester via Midhurst, Farnham and Hook very pleasant. Had a brief stop at a kebab van just outside Odiham for a delicious bacon and black pudding bap :yum The Monster is definitely here to stay, it’s an awesome little package. Andy

  7. Never. Client confidentiality and all that.
:joy: precisely. He does now, although they're not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. Told him it really needed a full calliper overhaul. He's humming and harring about it now as he plans to sell the bike.
:joy: Actually, it was in for a front fork service originally and new seals/bushes as they were leaking (forks are pitted:confused:) and I had to clean all the fork oil off the brakes which lead to the mini service of them. I was shocked at how bad they were though. I also had to trace and fix an oil leak around the front sprocket so as a matter of course the chain got taken off and refitted (and correctly adjusted) and the oil got dropped; he insisted the oil wasn't that old so to put it back in:confused:. It looked rank to me but its his bike.

This is the downside of not having an MOT process/necessity for bikes here in ROI, there's some awful shite out there being run on a shoestring.

  8. Put the oil back in! The only place the oils should be put is the recycle tank. Save the brake fluid as well, why not. Maybe he could use the old brake pads. Penny wise and Euro foolish.
No MOT here in France, there’s a lovely FJ 1200 in the village with no rear calliper and only one on the front, the hose has a clamp on it on the left hand side. Rides like a maniac.

  9. I must have been past that van a hundred times (assuming it’s the one by the roundabout?), so as I’m partial to a bit of black pudding, will have to stop by one day.

  10. I collected a repaired part for the 916 from @Sev yesterday, and he helpED me out with another very rare original part for the SL.
Many thanks for all your help, much appreciated.:upyeah:

  11. Fitted the RaceTorx gear shaft support I picked up at a discounted price at the MCN bike show last weekend. I’m not sure I’ll notice any difference as the changes are butterly smooth already but it’s black and billlet so that’s good enough for me. :)

  12. Nothing. My bikes is in Thackenham. Crated up for shipping and its bloody sunny and bike weather...

  13. Bit the bullet on using a dark visor and installed one of the ProtecTINT Pinlock inserts into my clear visor. Not been out, but it works, albeit to a light tint.

I have a reactive visor on my Klim helmet, which works well in anything but strong sun, but since buying the Arai Tour 4, I rarely use it.

The Arai allows me to wear sunglasses too, so should be the best overall solution.

  14. Packed my Kreiga bag ready for German bike trip tomorrow.

  19. Stripped and cleaned the clutch on my M1100S. It was behaving perfectly however It was looking a bit grubby. Realised it hadn’t been done in about 10 years!
Two of the friction plates had missing dogs - dunno when that happened but it hadn’t affected the clutch noticeably. Chucked in serviceable ones from the spares stash.
All clean and the rod regreased, lovely.
