Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by tricolore, May 27, 2022.

  1. Rang one of the big bike supermarkets today, interested in a pikes peak..

what do you need to know, everything on our website...basically, why are you calling ?

There’s deep scratches on the hand guards and tail unit, will you change ? NO
Will it be serviced as it’s overdue ? NO
    Delivery ? £150
    Tyres need changing ? NO
Any movement in the price, based on above ? NO
Can you transfer the bike to Donnington branch to view ? NO
Any warranty ? NO .... but you have to give 3 months. OK 3 months warranty.
Not even £500 ? Nap we have very tight margins..which we all know is not true.

That was a pleasant experience for an £18k bike. TBH a very similar conversation with a franchised dealer, just not interested. The frustration is these bikes have been for sale for 4 - 6 months.

I Understand the market at the moment and shortage of bikes but this arrogant attitude really gets my back. Couple of years time the market will be awash with second hand and new bikes in stock, perhaps then will be the time to go shopping.

  2. I've been in the Motor Trade all my working life - the industry is full of people that are brilliant at NOT selling things and telling you what they can't do! It should be irrelevant that the used market is red hot for cars, vans and bikes....a basic level of service, enthusiasm and salesmanship really shouldn't be too much to ask should it?

  3. A lot of them can’t even be bothered to valet and by that I mean properly clean it not just show it a hose and then sheep dip the thing in ACF50! So I’m not surprised by the response you’ve had.

  4. Every company has at least one SPO. Sales prevention officer.

  5. Ain’t ever gonna happen, I’m afraid. People have been saying this for the last 10 years.

  6. Not so sure, the high demand in new bikes is driven by panic buying, put £500 deposit down and wait 10 months, then decide they never wanted it in the first place, you’ll start to see 3 month old bikes for sale..
