1200 S 2015 Monster Service Light Reset

Discussion in 'Monster' started by pasty PFC, May 15, 2022.

  1. ... especially now that I've probably for to calibrate a new gear-position sensor :(

  2. Ok great, I think I will go for it. Made further enquiries today, currently out of stock. Will keep you posted.

  3. Looks good. But the seller is in China. I’m weary of these options (import charges, customer service and sellers that disappear).

  4. I bought the OBDStar tool tonight it should arrive within a week. As I mentioned before, I will happily lend it out to local (Bristol) forum members. First lend is £20 then free thereafter. Of course before it leaves my possession we’ll need to establish a relationship/trust. Please DM me to make the initial contact.

  5. As it only takes seconds to do once connected up why don't you do the job yourself or supervise the job at your place until you are happy with the person you're helping, that way it does not leave your sight until you have established a good relationship. I don't think I would lend out a £400 gizmo to someone I'd just met.

  6. The latest version of Melcodiag works for the 1200 Monster, the Supersport 939/950 and Scramblers with the Siemens ECU and a few other of the more recent bikes. I cleared the service light on my Supersport last week and on my Scrambler a couple of months ago when I got a version in the development stage.

  7. Thanks MJGT that’s the idea I had. The main thing is that I help the DIY community.

These beautiful machines cost so much to own/service. If I can help those that want to do the work themselves but are limited by the accessibility of the electronics…then I’m happy.

  8. When did you download MelcoDiag? What version is it?
I tried it a couple of months ago and it said my bike (2018 M1200s) was not compatible.

  9. I downloaded it last week, V 2.0.1.5. It covers Scramblers and Monsters with the M3C ECU with 696, 800 or 1100 engines as well as the Supersport and Monster 1200 (and probably M851) in addition to the Multi and Panigale models. I'd expect it will also work for the Hypermotard 939.

  10. I might give it a try as my version was 2.0.0.6, although if it fails this time I probably wont be able to send the cables back.

  11. Okay, so I downloaded the latest version of MelcoDiag but my windows 11 computer says no, as soon as I load it into my machine I get an error message and the file is deleted. Derek did you have any problems with it?

  12. Looks like Windows Defender is falsely identifying Melcodiag as a threat. There are instructions on the web on changing settings for False Positives.

  13. No problem. I use an old netbook with Windows 7.

  14. Thanks Derek, that was/is my alternative solution. Just need to buy a set of cables now and hope it works on my bike.

  15. The OBDStar tool turned up today. Seems easy enough to use and fairly intuitive. Will connect it up and have a play over the weekend.

  16. Sounds interesting. I’m sure you’ll be letting us know how it goes. Good luck with it.

  17. Connected it up tonight, really happy with it. Easy to use and as I said, intuitive user interface.

Read and erased the error codes (brake light & immobiliser antenna), checked all of the system for functionality. Here you can activate fan, fuel pump, injectors etc and check switches (e.g. neutral, stand, clutch, brake etc).

It’s easy to reset the service lights.

I couldn’t start the bike to view all of the gauges as my boy sleeps above the garage but will do tomorrow morning.

Very happy, good bit of kit.
