I'd Like To Acknowledge Biketrac Customer Care

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Android853sp, May 26, 2022.

  1. Having an unusual experience with a 3 year old, apparently fully functional unit/Sim that won't talk to the monitoring centre. A couple of phone calls later and a stumped technical support (he didn't actually use "stumped" but you get the drift :joy:), they are sending me a new, replacement unit, free of charge. I have always been happy with the service from Biketrac over the years but they have definitely gone the extra mile for me this time. Andy

  2. I’ll join you in that. From the initial interaction with them (dealer claimed previously fitted unit was active when it wasn’t, twice!) to courtesy on calls when my movement was triggered by washing after a ride, I’ve nothing but praise.

  9. Yeah made the usual mistake of loading it in the van wiht ignition on, then forgetting to disable it

Been with them two years and more than happy with them - wont use anyone else

  10. Had mine fitted to bike before delivery @OYB aylesbury. Very easy use of app or website & geo-fence lark. Highly recommended although far cheaper options are available they won't be recognized by insurance companies for discount.

  12. So my bike has a Bike trac, bit I didnt declare it when I insured it when I first got it. My insurance quote was actually higher with it declared. I questioned it and they couldn't really explain why??:astonished:

All I declared as security was chain, lock and ground anchor and Oxford omega disc lock. Was considerably cheaper too!!

I am still thinking of activating it though, just not sure of the benefits as if the bike was stolen would I really want it back or feel the same about it??

  13. You might not want your bike back but if the tracker takes the authorities to where the thieves and or their spoils are, surely it’s a step in the right direction. Biketrac claim a very high percentage of recoveries, mostly just the bike in a lock-up or holding area but on the odd occasion, they get the payload location. Andy

  14. I've had Biketrac on three bikes and currently still do on one - always great service including one replaced when it played up.
Interestingly, my local Ducati dealership has, apparently, chosen to install Datatool in preference as the unit is smaller and easier to fit/hide...although they will still install Biketrac if the customer prefers.

  15. There was no difference in price for my mate on his BMW insurance…..

  16. The problem with Datatool is they can be bypassed easily.

  17. Same for me. I have Biketrac on my Panigale as required. When I got the Hypermotard, I asked what reduction a Biketrac would make to that policy, also a ground anchor and chain. Answer: none!

  18. Put it this way - if your Panigale is nicked and not recovered ie a total loss, you’ll lose your no clams bonus and run a very high risk of not being able to insure a high value bike again. At the very least your insurance will most likely treble!!! ( even if protected NCB)

Id rather get the bike back and flog it if my feelings changed about it. Move on at minimum cost.

BikeTrac is not just about getting the bike back, without your full NCB, you’ll struggle to insure a group 17 and above as you’ll have to declare the claim for 3-5 years!!!. To me, that’s worth protecting if some lowlife makes off with your pride and joy.

  19. You're absolutely right @Martin Ducati Glasgow , I've never even thought of it like that! Will look to make contact with Bike trac and see what my options are for getting it activated.:upyeah:
