What's it like at Bike shed with regard to visitor - Bike 'interaction'?
Do they make a big deal about the bikes not being touched?
And actually put some effort into keeping an eye on it?

I had a Z1000 at the Streetfighters Sheffield show years ago, and whilst I wasn't there interacting it gained a scratch on the tank, a hole in the saddle that looked like somebody had pushed a pen through it, and the sidepanel badge was stolen.

The same bike at a smaller show fell over as a lad of about 10 climbed on it watched by his parents despite the Please don't sit on the bike notice.

In more recent years my WWII Motorised Canoe was on display at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth for @5yrs, and came back to me with names signed on it in marker pen, dents, and obvious signs of parts trying to be removed.

And I came back to my RIB moored up on a pontoon which I was using for safety duty at a sailing event to see a family of 5 using it to eat their lunch. The same boat when moored off a beach is a magnet for swimmers, both Kids and adults to climb on and dive off with no regard to it being somebody else's property.

I will never again have anything precious to me on public display unless it's behind a barrier.

Sorry to hear Simon, you make me realise how lightly I’ve got off over the years. Was parked up on the pit straight at Goodwood breakfast thing a few years back. The owner of the neighbouring bike I’d ridden in with a PaniGali blah had agreed to let an infant sit on his bike for a photo but the enthusiastic dad on lifting him on wasn’t concerned that he’d heavily pinged the wing mirror on my bike. I looked at him a bit straight and said something like steady on! and he just scowled at me, as you say, best not to park anything in public overall.
To answer your question on the bike shed, yes there was a Steward type of person vaguely around to direct bikes in and to observe but it wasn’t a big presence the one time that I was there, The organisers had gone for trust I think rather than heavy policing, but may have changed that by now (see post above).

 

My friend exhibited a bike there last weekend.

By the time it had got to its place on the floor, the paintwork had been damaged, presumably by whoever was responsible for moving the bikes.

I’d want to put mine in place personally and have a rope around it.

People in general are inconsiderate wankers, worse so when a photo opportunity arises. I’ve been sat in a seafront park and watched someone trying to sit their kid on my bike as I had my bacon butty. Needless to say I got over there (about 50 yards) pretty quickly and they got short shrift from me, politely (due to proximity of the child).

Why do people assume it’s Ok to fcuk with someone else’s property for their own purpose?

 

I like and enjoy bikes. My issue with the bike shed has always been the same as it is with any bike cafe type thing.

They’re often full of toothless weirdo’s that wear hoodies over their leathers and talk utter shite.
the sort you see at bsb and are usually part of the 1kcc club (experts in causing red flags on trackdays).

last time I got Coerced in to going to loomies or Rykas I felt like I needed a Tetanus booster and a long shower when I got home.

it’s a nice idea, and yes I like bikes. But typical bikers make me want to build a bunker and never come outside again.


Have you ever gone to a bsb event or the bike show for example and had a good look at the people around you it’s terrifying.

 

Probably coz they’re the type who are on benefits and get everything for free which devoids them of respect. That’s just my observation anyway.

Having said that, I’ve never seen anyone mess with my Stag while it was on show. That may say more about my car than the public!
