Fitted a set on my V4s Multi and so far very impressed. They feel solid , turn well and grip like s..t . Rode with a 1260 Multi running Rosso 2 + 990 SMR with Rosso 2 and ran as fast with no dramas , the mutans stayed un ripped , the Rosso 2 showed rippes and bobbles etc , no problem but this may show the Mutants have better wear but still offer the same grip . The ride was on road not track , fast sections mixed with fast technical B road twistys . The Mutants are really good and feel planted and solid and would so far recommend them. I did notice when new they felt odd but this only lasted for 10 / 20 miles then pulled the pin and great , only took the few miles to run them in , heat up fast.
IMO, the likelihood is your tyre pressure is a pound or two low. The manufacturers recommended pressures are just that, a recommendation. Tyre pressures depend on mass of the bike and rider, ambient air temperature, road surface temperature, road surface quality and riding style. Any one of these can require a small change of pressure. Thanks , running on the standard pressures , not over heavy . The grip is great and all those miles are done on back roads so may be due to that , spirted riding .
I’ve found the back roads I ride tear a tyre to pieces very quickly, it seems Welsh B roads eat tyres up.
True , I ride mainly in Wales most Sundays , just fitted the Road Smart 4 on my spare set of wheels to compare as need a good set to do a tour in Spain on the worlds best roads lol . Need a minimum of 2000 from the set to get back . Not taken the Multi there before but it ate a set of conti TA 3 in sub 2000 but they would do it , just. This is a quest for the best tyres . Old ride was 1250 gs , best tyres on that Coti TA3 , worst but fun PR5 which gave up at 1500 miles
