A used Oil cooler which I'm convinced is 900SS not M900 because of the side the mounting lugs are offset to. It's dirty but looks to be intact. £60 + £5 P&P within the usual UK limits. Please be aware that it will take me a few days to post it. It can be collected from Clanfield Hants, or possibly Havant Hants if the timing is right.
To help, a picture says 1000 words: The M900 Oil Cooler is fitted above the Horizontal cylinder head. The 900SS Oil Cooler is fitted below the Horizontal cylinder head. Because the Horizontal Cylinder is Offset to the Belt side of the engine the Oil cooler is mounted offset to the cylinder to put it back on the centre line of the bike. In the image below the coolers are laid out as if the viewer is looking from the engine towards the front of the bike. On Top is a Known M900 Oil Cooler from my own stash. Below is the Oil cooler from Mark's stash(for sale) that I'm convinced now is a 900SS one: As can be seen both sets of lugs are offset to the right. If I spin the Lower Cooler over(the one for sale) it can be seen that if you mounted it above the Cylinder head it would be offset to the right by quite a bit. Although it does look like it was used that way by the witness mark of dirt thrown up by the Front wheel. Below is an image that shows just how offset to the centre of the bike a 900SS cooler would be when fitted to an M900: And how offset an M900 Cooler would be to the centre of the bike when fitted to a 900SS:
^ This is a very useful post Simon, and ought to have a flag" or a stickie" attached to it for the dozen or more times the same question comes up in the next 10 years.
Leaning against an open door there, I knew the difference but you have outlined it clearly for everyone. Mark of course, was equally as bad/good.
Blimey that Oil Cooler must be insulating the Oil and keeping it warm rather than cooling it! No worries, although under the circumstances I really won't appreciate anybody pissing me about when I'm putting so much effort in to help the widow of a departed friend. So sooner rather than later please.
