So after deciding to jump on a panigale I’ve been to a couple of dealers to have a nosey. the condition of the bikes I’ve seen and responses from the dealers is very surprising considering they’re still charging a premium. one dealer actually saying there’s a deal to be had but not a lot and not because of the boot rubbing marks and paint missing on the swingarm as it’s a 2016 bike and should be viewed as such. Is there anywhere else to look other than eBay,bike trader and motorcycle news?
Up here I'd say Veloce in Lincoln but one many who likely will know who is trustworthy (and to be honest it'd be worth the hike to Lincoln if he has what you're looking for) is @Jonny Moto
hi Andy, is there any way I can contact you as I’m to new on here so not letting me use the dm yet cheers
Our dealership isn’t open until September….we’ll be a main dealer and would love your business! If I can help, drop me a line
I can see some of this behaviour in dealers who are targetting on unit sales (and new registration) but rubbed swingarms and missing paint are NOT wear and tear... I've never had a bike with paint rubbed off anything except the face of the footrest perhaps. My Panigale V2 had a swingarm cover on it because I 'Thought' that there was the potential for my boot to rub it, perhaps, at some point... And that's the type of owner most Ducati owners are.
Would a bit of paint rubbing not be regarded as wear and tear? I appreciate that Ducatis in general are in my opinion well looked after and unlikely to be commuted on but a Panigale could be, what, approaching ten year old? Mine is approaching six and has the odd stone chip and use mark - it’s definitely not a shed and from 1m away looks new but it it isn’t quite there now. Yes, I’d say dealers price should reflect this but equally as potential buyers I’d expect this. If my 66 plate with 11k miles was parked alongside another 66 plate but with 2k and absolutely spotless I’d expect them to be priced differently?
