  2. Dam time flies. It doesn't seem like five minutes ago you were looking for the Aprilia moped.

Can't help you with the Lexmoto Finm but I imagine they're able to last a year from new so if the purchase & resale prices are OK...

  3. yip, it just seems like it was only yesterday that he was knee high and threatning to chop my head off with an axe in my sleep. (true story) like me, his humor is a bit warped. :D
i'm seeing them at a year old for not much less. when he passes his tests he will use the dosh for a suzuki flat bed.

  4. Nope, can’t see there’d be a problem that the warranty wouldn’t cover should you buy new.

If you do a Google search you’ll find a page or 2 on these, but be cautious as those who’ve had problems will be the most vocal.

  5. next question. he did his CBT on a geared 50 when he was 16, the interweb seems a lil vague on wether or not he will need to upgrade for a 125.

  6. A trust pilot review https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.lexmoto.co.uk

You may want to look at insuring a commercial vehicle a little, as we discovered for my daughters fella newly qualified drivers attract a very high premium on a van or such.

  7. His CBT should stand for the 2 years from when he passed for his moped afaik. Best ring a school to get this clarified.

Found this, his CBT is valid

  8. Hi there,
to answer both your questions I bought my son a WK 125 which is the same thing really when he turned 17 thinking it would last him a year or so. Due to lock downs and his work schedule he's been stuck with it for four years and done 20k on it in all weathers and it's been a peach! A bit of routine and preventative maintenance and lots of ACF 50 before winter is all that's really been needed apart from changing the original plastic Chinese tyres for some Pirellis and replacing the brake pads with EBC ones, oh and a braided hose set up for better feel etc!
He wont need to do another test for a 125 unless his two years are up on his CBT so just need to check his test dates, hope it works out okay for you and you don't have to spend much time fiddling with it, the build quality is above average for an offering from the far east but still not quite a Yamaha/Kawasaki etc!

  9. As an aside, for my daughters driving lessons/experience which was heavily curtailed I bought her a Nissan Micra 04 plate £650 which she insured for £330 tpft. She then got to drive a lot more and we weren’t ferrying her around in our cars as she would drive to the destination. The Mrs and her did a lot of driving as there’s always shopping to be done………… Daughter passed test first time which was a result.

    .
ferk me, it's a large bike. feels good sitting on it, poking about it seems well built. tell you what, if it had 30more boom booms (maybe 60more) i would have one for commuting. and i can service it and maintain the warranty.
    v,nice

  11. I bet he is made up!

Looking at the specs, it is pretty similar weight to my Honda 400 NC30. Shame that its restricted to 12hp.

  12. aye, he's well chuffed. he works hard, he's earned it.
it is a big bike, it feels like it could handle a few more CC's. looking around i haven't seen a way to derestrict it. yet. i maybe made the mistake of popping into the New Ducati Glasgow showroom while we were down. he is already taking about trading up.
    :D

  13. Riding a 125 thats derestricted is unlikely to get picked by by the police. unless the top speed is increased to 65+. Still if he were caught, or in an accident (unlikely but) you can lose the bike, your drivers license isn't valid so large fine & points. Insurance would cover the third party but they might sue the rider for fraud.

Now remembering myself at that age, I did a similar thing involving an RD400 with RD250 side panel stickers and a girlfriends reg... I wasn't caught, it was just for a short time but I could have been in all kinds of trouble.

  14. got it covered bud, if ever stopped, he is just to say that he is Jez, from Cheshire. sorted.
chortle. tbh, he is riding around on a 70 or maybe an 80cc registered as a 50cc at the mo where the speedo registers the top speed. apparently is does 66mph. hmm. i did the same back in the day. a GT175. with the sidewinder removed.

  15. Amazing that it has twin discs on the front, nice looking bike. The stuff from China has come on a lot in the last few year imo.

  16. the reviews are good too. a 2018 model shown here. identical to look at but the 2022 has slightly more power, 6 gears and duel braking.

  17. First impressions now we have it home in the colour scheme he wanted. Superb. Big, time will tell how well made it is but so far so good. Now the two looòòoong week wait until he turns 17.
Not the best pics as it is pishing down. He is going to be raging when he next takes the cover off and sees the dust i have brought backfrom the workshop. Chortle

  18. Don’t care what anyone says, that’s a lot of bike for the money. I always think, as long as you look after it and keep eye on bolts and stuff (maybe some extra protection for electrics??) why should they not last?!

Buy same Ape and it will lose more in three years depreciation than buying one of these and binning it after three years

  19. lexmoto suck.
i think that's about all i can say at this particular time.

  20. after thinking about it. maybe they dont suck that much. just the, being so far from dealer support with v,lil info available on line and the over dependency of the vehicle in question thing. which is pretty much the norm in rural areas and being in the trade will no doubt lead to my early demise as customers put their stress on to me.
LXR125. bought new and now has nearly 6kmls on it used in all weathers. it has broke down 4 times in that period. @2k it blew a spark plug on the way to his theory test. at 2.5k the well maintained and lubed chain popped. i found the clip for the split link behind the drive sprocket cover. a couple of days later the bike will no longer start when the stand is down. (the stand and clutch switch are working as it should) still not rectified. @ 5K it blows another plug. @5.5k it breaks down again. but restarts after a while then again after several miles and again and again. a phone call to the dealer and he hasnt heard of the plug munching thing tho after re contacting him after finding bit of info on faulty HT leads it all of a sudden rekindles a memory... uhhuh. common as muck apparently but leads have gone back order. water gets down between the lead and the spark plug recess. i've seen the water and the corroded spark plug but not inside the cap. hayho, having predominantly worked on brand new cars i know the score. shit goes wrong from new, no stress, i came up with a plan.
    .
but i fucked it on he Saturday and he needs the bike for work on the Monday.
the seal i was gonna use to seal the HT cap fell down the spark plug hole and with only about 10cm of clearance between the cylinder head and tank that left no room for fishing it out. no stress, i will just remove the tank. piece o pish.
    10hrs later...
now i know how to do it without breaking anything i could have it off and on in half an hour. i do have 2 bolts left over tho and i aint going looking until i have to. fugging motorbikes and their plastics.
anyways. several hundred miles later and it's still going.
    touching wood.
