Purchased a 2019 Multistrada at 17k miles, fully aware I would need a Desmo at 18k, which was completed a couple of weeks ago. The Desmo indicator was on when it hit 18k. Turn the bike on today and the annual service light has appeared on the dash. I accept the two things are different, but surely the dealer should have turned this off, or as it is time and not mileage related, would they not have known? With a close to two grand bill already I just wanted to check before I tackle the dealer. Thanks.
The valve clearance check is mileage dependent. If the last service was under a year ago or less than 9,000 miles, it is possible the dealer would not have done a service. More likely, you need to go over the service mileage by a couple of hundred miles or the dealer can’t clear the indicator. Look at your valve check receipt and see what you paid for. If you paid for oil and filter, the dealer will clear the indicator. If not, be prepared for the dealer to get very defensive and likely to say you didn’t ask for a service. Andy
Thanks Andy. The service book has regular, timely stamps (last one a year ago) and just checked and oil, filters, plugs etc are on the invoice, so assume it's just a revisit to turn off the light.
The dealer can't turn off the light before it comes up. So if it wasn't on at the time of service the couldn't tun it off.
I suspect if you just visit the dealer they will cancel the annual light (same thing happened to me as I’d already had the big service a month before the annual one was due)
I had the same happen, Desmo and service all in one, belts too. Light has now come on just over 19000miles and Ducati told me to come in and they’ll sort it out. Guess they mean switch. It off? also, since this light came on my bike had hit limp mode 3 times for nothing excessive, no max riding etc… is the limp mode related? Is it doing it via the EMU as a precautionary measure? If it believes it is about to fail would/could this happen?
As @Derek says there is some other issue causing the lack of power. A good suspect is the EXBV sticking (if still fitted). Lubrication of the EXBV should be part of routine maintenance. Lubing the pivot with Copper Slip should keep things working.
