998s - Sf/s Vs Panigale R Gen2 My16

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by DucRider, Jul 5, 2022.

  1. Hi chaps,

    I own a 02 998s and a SF/s 2012.
Due to time for both and maybe a bit of love for a panigale I’m considering a swap with a panigale R gen2, with 25k km.

Are there any weak points with the panigale R and this mileage? Any tips are welcome, I know everything about the 748-998 models but little to none of the panigale.

    cheers
    Nick

  2. Firstly, mileage sounds bit high maybe. And secondly, unless you are getting cash too it doesn’t sound like a good deal for you if your bikes are in good Nick

  3. I didn’t got a chance too see the dealer. They are asking 22.995€ for it. Lets see what they will offer for the 998 and the SF. And yes they are in good nick. Sf has done 15k and the 998s 35k all km. They als have two SF V4, but don’t know if i like that.

  4. Don't forget the panigale r has 2 ring pistons with that high milage could be due a costly refresh

  5. Yes I know, that worries me. Anyone has experience with this mileage? . Maybe we need to go for a SF 4

  6. Guess it depends how it’s been ridden. If it’s a show pony, probably not as much an issue. If it’s lived at 10k plus revs much of its life it could be big service time. May be one to discuss about getting that all in order of the bike is a good one before taking delivery: if you don’t ask you don’t know :upyeah:

Proce wise, May be different in your country now I see it’s not U.K. as SF s models go for 8-10k and 998s can be about same, where a gen 2 R here can be bought for well under 20k. But we don’t like miles here either, so all those bikes would be considered high mileage ! (Which is madness!!)
