999 Hugger

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Nasher, Jul 6, 2022.

  1. I'm still looking for a hugger for my 2005, Black Swingarm 999.
I really think the bike should have been fitted with one as standard, but sadly not.
And I don't see the point of the very short 6" jobbies, they don't appear to protect the shock at all.

There appear to be loads of options for the earlier Grey Cast Swingarm model, but not much for the later bike.

Before I end up making one from scratch, can anyone recommend one, hopefully from a company that actually have stock, many are currently quoting very long lead times.

I like the look of this nice simple one from the defunct eMoto who also had a terrible reputation.

And anything I buy will get painted Black not left in Carbon.

Of course if anyone has one they are no longer using please let me know, I can even extend a short one a bit I suppose.

    Thanks

  2. Thanks for that Martijn851, I saw them earlier.

Unfortunately I don't actually like the design, and everything I've seen about RSRMoto says I'll order it and not see it for weeks.

  3. Thanks Chris, I'd not found that one, it's just the style I like.

I'll give them a call as there is no mention I can see anywhere on their site about lead time etc.

  4. Has anyone used King Carbon?
Just called them and been told everything is made to order and they are working to 10-15 day lead time at the moment.
Having heard that before, does anyone have any reason to doubt that?

  5. I think I've got a RSR, not sure because it was already on the bike.
Quality is good and it does the job well, better than the short one on my SP.

  6. I have just received some parts from RSRMoto and they were with me a couple of days after placing the order. That was an eBay purchase so maybe it was something they had in stock…? I’m about to place an order with KingCarbon as well so I’ll let you know my experience with them.

  7. Hey @Cammy46 did you manage to get your parts from KingCarbon?

  8. Hi @Nasher sorry for the delayed response! Yeah got the sprocket cover for my 749 from them. Generally really good experience, delivery was very quick and quality looks good:
