Sat Nav Wiring Help (ocd Alert) Ms950

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Burnsey, Jul 5, 2022.

  1. Originally installed the Zumo on a handlebar mount, but now fancy using a tankbag, so it;s obscured.

Bought the OEM high level mount and I'm fine to get the cables up to around the dash, but then wondered what folk had done?

Should i go behind the dash, or along the side? Any other input.

There's a couple of intentional holes to cable tie the cable to the mount of course, but one issue is you need to leave 'slack' if you want to operate the screen adjuster and it is playing havoc with my OCD

  2. I accept this post was a bit "What is he on about", bit basically I'm trying to ascertain with the high nav mount, where have you brought the wiring - from the point around the dash - behind it, up the side, etc.

Any help appreciated, as I'm tackling it tomorrow.

  3. I’m guessing my 2012 1200 isn’t a million miles different from your 950, all I did was to loop the excess, secure in a sausage shape with the original plastic coated wire ties and tucked it all behind the speedo head. Andy

  4. Cheers Andy.

No problems moving the screen up and down (bracket is attached to the mechanism)?

I need to ensure the cable has the same slack as the screen adjustment basically and it seemed a bit tight behind the dash.

  5. Ah, so there is the difference, my mount attaches to the fixed part of the screen frame. Hope you find a solution to keep the OCD at bay. Andy

  6. On mine, Ducati bracket, I cable tied the power lead down the left side of the mount (relative to sitting on the bike). There are a couple of holes in the metalwork for this. Set this up in the high position and in the low position the slack isn't a problem. Away today so can't provide pics, sorry.

  7. Thanks.

Not overly impressed in how the OEM bracket fixes to the moving part, but managed a clean instal, with no visible cables, so am quite chuffed.
