  1. Following up from my previous post:

Well, a bit of a frustrated conversation here.
I am fairly young and up to 5 years ago, I thought to be healthy too. I won’t bother you with any long story, but I ignored for too long the advices my cardiologist gave me and continue to gives me. His prescription is always the same, reduce stress and have a much healthier lifestyle. It took me months to understand I cannot continue to cover my role at my current job as it involves daily stress. Long story short, we will be moving to Spain where my wife is from. She can transfer internally and I will find something else. Unfortunately, not the job I love.

Now the hard part: from what I read, Spain is not very friendly with imported motorbikes and registering them over there is a bit of a nightmare.

Add up that one of my ss, although extremely looked after and with low miles, it’s on a Q plate (stolen-recovered) and has a DVLA given vin number, i believe this one is out of the game straight away as won’t be considered to be registered over there.

I really don’t want to sell her but I see no alternative, unless someone can share their experience with registering a fairly old motorcycle in Spain without an official Ducati VIN number or, someone can come forward with a 900 ss frame with V5, then I may be putting both of them up for sale and buy once there (if I will ever find one as there aren’t that many).
While the Q plate runs like a dream and doesn’t burn any oil ( she is truly spotless ) the 96 has a re-welded frame at the headstock (common) and burns oil, and seems to have a leak between the vertical cylinder and cylinder head (typical) although compression is equal on both cylinders and pulls very well. On this one there is a fully comprehensive, from day one, service history.

We will be moving fairly soon so I can’t really sleep on this.

    Now both for sale:
Q plate white frame: 14700 miles Fully serviced in March this year with motul 10/40 and new oil filter, new belts (original ducati) carbs stripped, ultra sonically cleaned and rebuilt from Ducati London with receipt) Brand new Tyres, Michelin pilot power 2 ct (not even 150 miles on them) Comes with MRA tinted screen, had an extensive inspection from Ducati London to check if anything was needed and had the carbs tuned from them. Runs like a dream, pulls very well and burns no oil. She is truly spotless

1996 R reg: 38000 miles, frame was cracked at the headstock (common) and got welded back with the welding left exposed (out of transparency) the welding looks solid and had no issues in over 7000 miles. Leaks oil from vertical cylinder and burns oil under acceleration and release.

This was on my to do list and it’s very strange, the bike pulls very well and the compression is equal which tells me the rings are just fine, but it could be valve guides or the small o-ring between the head and the vertical cylinder. Anyhow, the bike run, starts and ride but it needs attention.

Has had a full service in April this year with motul 10-40, new oil filter and new belts (original Ducati). New clutch (entire clutch, original Ducati clutch basket and new discs) new chain, sprocket, new rear shock ( did not commission it but purchase a good second hand one from a friend and it works perfectly)

White wheel on Q reg, £3500. Insurance hasn’t been an issue for me and I paid this last time £188 for the year. If the Q reg doesn’t bother you, this is a Bargain of a bike. It’s solid and runs like a dream. In the future, you may find a new frame with V5 and get her on an age related plate. Will come with original exhausts as the “stickers only termignoni” will go separately

1996 R reg: I spent quite good money on this one and time to bring her back to a “decent” state. It has full, and I mean full service history since day one, including purchase invoice when new. It has been looked after from 80%of the time from Steve Jordan. Loads of paperwork and technically an easy fix for the leak.

    Asking £3k for this one.

Guys, I am open with you and I won’t consider silly offers as I already have a trader who i know and possibly most of you know, offering already near to the requesting price. I really wanted my babies to go to someone who enjoys and looks after them and ideally don’t buy to re-sell.

Any question or additional pictures or videos, feel free to ask. Bikes are in Surrey, UK.

  2. You wait for one bike and two come at once! Wish you were closer Joe, I would have a look at your ‘96.

  3. Hey Mark, apologies for the late response. Not sure how far you are but she will ride you back ☺️

  4. Hi Joe, I’m in County Durham, about 300 miles away!

  5. Up. Guys anyone on these two? I would love to see them going to someone from this forum. Both of them are excellent value for money. Willing to accept offers.

  6. If I had enough I'd love to have taken the whiteframe on.

  7. And I would have loved for her to stay with you guys rather than a re-seller.

    She is truly spotless!

Can you add another one at all?

  8. Further up guys with revised prices:

1996 will go with £2k and I believe this is truly a bargain price as, yes it is a project bike, but running and working perfectly. With only 3 owners and full service history, once fixed this would be a very good example of 96, 900ss. The fixing won’t even reach the 1k mark as most of us are competent enough to carry out the work ourselves and bypass the labour prices.

Q plate dropped at £2200 and again, this one needs no work to be done unless you want to correct a very minor oil leak (literally a drop a week) from where the side stand is.

Able to record and send videos of both of them running.

both of them have had fresh mot without advisories.

  9. surely bound to go soon now Joe.:upyeah:

  10. thanks Chris. Hopefully someone will secure the next winter project or just an amazing bike to ride if the Q plate

  11. Hello guys, both bikes are now sold although one of them hasn’t been collected yet.
