How Can I Tell If I Have High Comp Pistons?

Would a compression test work?

assuming base ish levels are to be found. I’d imagine that’s Feasible though ?

Failing that take a look down the spark plug hole either with a torch or a mini camera if you can get hold of one.

Or just take the head off.

 

Take a plug out and shine a light into the bore & have a look. High comp pistons have a raised crown and standard ones are flat topped. You might need to rotate the engine (by hand) to see the piston crown .

 

Don’t drop anything in there…. Doh!!!

 

Or get fingers stuck in the plug hole

 

Race people off the traffic lights. If you usually win, you have hi comps.

Compression test will definately indicate. They also have a raised crown and cutouts for valves.
