It could just be a revs thing. I'm still running in so limited to 6k still. Maybe things will be better once I've done the first service and can rev it out more.
Don't know, my friend has the PPV4 and I've got the 1200V2 and recently on a ride out he came past me about 40mph faster and I wouldn't have known by sound alone, ie. there wasn't any, just some wind noise, very disappointing. When I passed him at the same difference in speed (decated with Arrow end pipe) he nearly veered off the road such was the Auralgasm.
Every new loud exhaust makes crack downs ever more stringent. It’s not going to be long before they have the power to impound vehicles with noisy exhausts.
This is what I'm finding. Whilst I don't want obnoxious noise, I find the bike is bordering on EV (lack of) noise levels.
I’m not sure what you lot are doing, but my PP is louder than my 1260 was. Is everyone riding around in 5th gear everywhere?
No disrespect, but that’s a rather stupid and naive attitude. If you have fitted an Akra full system that is marked not for road use then your insurance will be invalid and you could get yourself in huge financial trouble.See Below. This is absolutely the correct way of thinking. My brother works for one of the major bike insurers in the UK and I showed him this thread and he was horrified. Captain, you are totally correct in that you could lose everything including your home. It really isn’t worth it and combined with the growing number of countries that are installing noise ‘cameras’, why spend £1000s on a noisy system that does little to enhance the bikes performance but simply makes the rider feel more of a local hero ??
As we all know insurance companies are quite happy to take annual premiums and then find a way of wheedling out of any claim they might have to pay out on. Whilst I guess it doesn’t happen too often, accidents where there are life changing injuries or fatalities will be gone over with the smallest of details as the sums the insurance company has to pay out on will be significant even to them.
Can't help but feel noise cameras are going to be poor to useless. Unless it's mounted where it can guarantee no other noise or interference it will struggle to produce a 'beyond reasonable doubt' in court surely? So what a ping from your alleged offending vehicle and quickly pop round your house when you're home to check your legality? That'll be a lot of house visits. Speed is also a varying limit so how will they decide what is a reasonable limit then ban all previous 'loud' vehicles or allow a varying limit depending on the vehicle maybe? Anyone who has taken a Panigale to the track and had it tested will know they always come out louder due to the low slung and and reverberation off of the tarmac. All a bit nonsense, rant over
Easy enough for the powers that be to say 'your vehicle triggered a noise camera and you now need to get it tested for noise properly at one of our test centres'.
Well i have run mine in now and had all the extras fitted and wow what a bike!! It is a thirsty ole gal though. Managed 144 miles on my last full tank! I was playing with it a bit though.
Yep, I'm noticing some thirst, but also a fair bit of heat from the engine, the fan comes on quite a bit more than my 1260. I also seem to have a bit of an eratic idle, but that's being looked at by the dealer soon. Love the bike though
Yeah fan does come on a lot but i already knew that they are a "hot" engine so does not surprise me. My idle is fine. You can notice the different sound on idle when you let clutch out slightly and it changes from 2 cylinders to 4. I find that quite addictive. Definately an improvement over my old 1200S which was so good i kept it 8 years
When you say erratic ride, what do you mean? I always run mine on Super Unleaded, but on the trip one place only had regular unleaded, so the bike was quite juddery. Now whether that was the fuel or the 42 degree heat, I don’t know, but after a few tanks of super, it’s seems to be sorted now.
If I'm sat there at some lights for instance, in neutral, I can see the rpm needle moving around in a range of probably 200-300 rpm. It's also not a regular movement, it'll suddenly jump, then settle for a bit etc. If I mess with the clutch to bring the other 2 cylinders in, it keeps doing it so it's not something related to the 2 cylinder cut off.
Air/fuel or Lambada sensor? Whatever it is get the dealer to check it out as mine definitely doesn't do that
