V4 Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steelboss, Oct 10, 2021.

  1. i have not been out far since removing mine. They are very small!

  2. That's interesting, my previous 1260S had a definite airbox roar as the revs went up the range but the V4S has that same roar but even louder to my ears. Are you saying that the PP doesn't have that roar at all? If so I wonder what the difference is.

  3. Hello everyone

To those of you who have been waiting for a long time, patience and encouragement... I waited for 8 months... and another motorcycle that I had to use, broke down just at that moment and I was left without a motorcycle and I was without a motorcycle all that time, and I continue alive....heh, heh...

We are used in today's society to want something and we want it now....and I think that nothing happens, it can even be good, be patient to assess things, and take the wait as a point of reflection.

I have already 8000 km with the PPV4 and I am delighted with it, the best motorcycle I have ever had. Maybe it will be the only bike I've ever bought or had that doesn't lack anything or doesn't have anything that I've had to adapt to.

The truth is that this bike is much more versatile than what they sell us beyond "racing marketing". It does everything well...if you want to be comfortable alone or with a partner, simply take a ride in high gears enjoying the scenery, excellent aerodynamic protection (with the PP touring screen), or go out on your favorite curved roads with a sports bike squeezing that engine and chassis... It is comfortable, agile, very beautiful and practical, and above all that engine that is really multifaceted.

The Pirelli Angel GT 2 come to this bike that are not even painted and I am delighted by their response and duration I have already had about 7000 km with it and I think it can easily do another 5000 km despite having traveled through Europe with them with my wife , heavily loaded and in the middle of a heat wave, they have behaved in luxury, even in water. Alone for sports use they do not disappoint at all and I have already been able to use them side by side with total confidence.

Now during this week I will do a "full detailing", which is another of my passions, taking care of and pampering my motorcycle and leaving it ready for the next adventure, soon taking advantage of family vacations, I will spend a season in the north of Spain taking my PP in the trailer and combining family life and motorcycle, and I think another 1500 km will fall easily.

  4. Saw my first one ‘in the flesh’ at P&H in Crawley today… what’s with that purple paint patch on the side of the nose!

  5. It could just be a revs thing. I'm still running in so limited to 6k still. Maybe things will be better once I've done the first service and can rev it out more.

  6. Don't know, my friend has the PPV4 and I've got the 1200V2 and recently on a ride out he came past me about 40mph faster and I wouldn't have known by sound alone, ie. there wasn't any, just some wind noise, very disappointing. When I passed him at the same difference in speed (decated with Arrow end pipe) he nearly veered off the road such was the Auralgasm. o_O:joy:

  7. Every new loud exhaust makes crack downs ever more stringent.

It’s not going to be long before they have the power to impound vehicles with noisy exhausts.

  8. This is what I'm finding. Whilst I don't want obnoxious noise, I find the bike is bordering on EV (lack of) noise levels.

  9. Just wait until you get it in the 6-10k rev range :) Then lets talk about noise.

  10. They already do if a first warning is ignored.

  11. They do have that power in some European countries too.

  12. I’m not sure what you lot are doing, but my PP is louder than my 1260 was. Is everyone riding around in 5th gear everywhere?

  13. No disrespect, but that’s a rather stupid and naive attitude. If you have fitted an Akra full system that is marked not for road use then your insurance will be invalid and you could get yourself in huge financial trouble.See Below.

This is absolutely the correct way of thinking.
My brother works for one of the major bike insurers in the UK and I showed him this thread and he was horrified.
Captain, you are totally correct in that you could lose everything including your home.
It really isn’t worth it and combined with the growing number of countries that are installing noise ‘cameras’, why spend £1000s on a noisy system that does little to enhance the bikes performance but simply makes the rider feel more of a local hero ??

  14. As we all know insurance companies are quite happy to take annual premiums and then find a way of wheedling out of any claim they might have to pay out on.
Whilst I guess it doesn’t happen too often, accidents where there are life changing injuries or fatalities will be gone over with the smallest of details as the sums the insurance company has to pay out on will be significant even to them.

  15. Can't help but feel noise cameras are going to be poor to useless. Unless it's mounted where it can guarantee no other noise or interference it will struggle to produce a 'beyond reasonable doubt' in court surely? So what a ping from your alleged offending vehicle and quickly pop round your house when you're home to check your legality? That'll be a lot of house visits. Speed is also a varying limit so how will they decide what is a reasonable limit then ban all previous 'loud' vehicles or allow a varying limit depending on the vehicle maybe? Anyone who has taken a Panigale to the track and had it tested will know they always come out louder due to the low slung and and reverberation off of the tarmac. All a bit nonsense, rant over

  16. Easy enough for the powers that be to say 'your vehicle triggered a noise camera and you now need to get it tested for noise properly at one of our test centres'.

  17. You would then have the chance to fix it

  18. Pain in the arse if its a full system though.

  19. Well i have run mine in now and had all the extras fitted and wow what a bike!! It is a thirsty ole gal though. Managed 144 miles on my last full tank! I was playing with it a bit though.

  20. Yep, I'm noticing some thirst, but also a fair bit of heat from the engine, the fan comes on quite a bit more than my 1260. I also seem to have a bit of an eratic idle, but that's being looked at by the dealer soon. Love the bike though
