What Tyre After Years On Road 4 And 5’s

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by raphael, Jun 19, 2022.

  1. I’ll soon hopefully be getting a panigale 1299 and will want to be putting some miles on it.
I’ve spent all my time on fireblades with Michelin road 4 or 5’s and seeing they don’t do a tyre to fit, I’m looking for recommendations for something similar.
I know I won’t get the mileage but not worth me using a supercorsa as I’m only a road rider who likes a small tour here and there.

    cheers

  2. Road only = Rosso Corsa 2’s.

You’ve just described the Michelin road 6 perfectly, you can’t go wrong with these on the road and they’ll give you a decent mileage :upyeah:

  5. Or consider Metzeler Roadtec 01SE . Super tyre, easily as good as Michelin which I had been on for last 10 years.

  6. Unfortunately with a 200/55 rear, there are very few sport touring tyres available to choose from. Tyres are a very personal thing so you will get a variety of recommendations. It’s like letting your mum or your sister pick you a girlfriend :joy: My recommendation for the pot would be the Metzeler M9RR. Andy

  7. you must have a sore arse Michel.

  8. I would second the Metzeler M9RR's I put them on a 1198 for general fun and the occassional tour where conditions may not always be perfect.

But it's very subjective, I always found Bridgestones to feel slippy and vague yet others love them. I had PR4's in the past and was happy till I tried the Roadtec S01's which is why I started trying others in the range.

  9. Funny you mention that…

  10. Thanks for the reply’s, appreciate it’s the newbie twat question with umpteen different answers, but after 30 years on only blades and pretty much the same type of tyre I’m as green as they come with what seems like a limited choice on the panigale I thought it would be a bit more straight forward

  11. For the ‘anorak’, both Metzeler and Pirelli have technical year books that bring all their tyres into a single publication, https://d1ykpo4jhzi0cx.cloudfront.net/download/metzeler_tdb_2022.pdf
https://d3nv2arudvw7ln.cloudfront.net/document/global/510/748/PIRELLI_TDB_2021_LR.pdf. Not found any of the other major brands doing the same but not actually bothered to try and find out. Andy

  12. The 5 has always been a go to on the blade and would of been the 6 but I don’t think they do it in a 200 yet?
