Hi, just become the proud owner of my very first Ducati. It’s a 2010 registered 900ss in Matt black colour. The bike has only done 2700 miles from new. Had a belt change in 2011 at 1000 miles and an oil and filter change in 2014. My question is, what service should I be looking at getting bearing in mind it has been mostly stored by the previous owner. Also, should I ride it in the mean time (because I really want too!!!) or is it best to get the service and belts done. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated
Get it serviced with new belts, 11 years stood is too long to risk riding it - if a belt gives way then it could cost you mega bucks.
Thanks for that, will get it booked in asap. Be OK to ride at a gentle pace though will it. ? About 25 miles to dealership.
Totally up to you, personally i wouldn't risk it, have you got a trailer or a mate who has?...speed is irrelevant IMO, if a belts gonna go its gonna go.
New look to me? Don’t risk riding it, many dealers have a collection facility. Needs also oil and filter change Fuel filter change Belts as mentioned Check and clean TPS connections, any moisture can need a TPS reset.
I don't have a trailer I’m afraid. I had to ride it back from where I purchased it which was about 50 miles. All of my mates are car people !
I Googled the part number and they are off the hypermotard model. Not seen one with the Breil stickers all over before either. I don’t know much about the bikes history if I’m honest. Mileage is genuine though
Looks like its a 900S (sport) not SS, underseat pipes are an interesting mod, if its a 2010 MY its quite a late one, Breil stickers are after-market add ons.
Well thanks everyone for your help on my first post. Will get it booked in ASAP and get it collected if possible. For the 45 mins I did ride it for I was in heaven
