  1. Beautiful plumage!

  2. I'm interested how are your wrists after a track session? Do you sit "in" or sit "on" the 749?
(beautiful looking bike by the way :upyeah:)

  3. Legs and shoulders get a good workout.
My wrists never ache as I rarely put weight on them unless "push/pull" to get her over for a corner.
I am not really "in or on" as I am mostly hanging off and look like a large coat on a small person.
What I do notice is how "talkative" the chassis is, it really inspires confidence for hard braking and gassing out of corners.
Compared to 916 it is more sophisticated and less harsh than Panigale.

  4. Thanks Paul, really appreciated.

  5. I think the main issue here is that you are not “bike fit” (you said you hadn’t ridden for 25 years and ate a lot of pies…) so it’s not surprising at all that you had a few aches and pains after riding a 996 at Cadwell.
The issue is likely not down to the bike.
Once you get one and get back into the swing then I feel sure that a 749 will be fine - well, no worse than any other sports bike.

  6. This is true. I am the wrong side of 60, but put in daily training for a month before a track event (normally three days in Europe) and just suffer a bit of leg and shoulder muscle ache that I also get from skiing.

  7. Indeed I agree totally, I am confident of this also.
(That being said, on the day I also did 40 minutes on a YZF750 which left me feeling fit, no issues.)

As Paul55 and I are a similar build his extensive insight also gives me confidence to get a 749, thanks Paul :upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:

This winter will see me getting a little fitter, some push ups and fewer pork pies!

  8. Perhaps cheese & onion pasties and gradually work your way into veggie samosas?

  9. This could be you......:D

  10. Regarding fit to the bike..
I'm 5'10, 73kg and my 900ss fits like a glove... definitely 'in' not 'on' the bike.

I really noticed the difference with my 999. I'm not sure of actual dimensions, but the cockpit feel considerably longer, hence your arms are flatter and you are forced into a more crouching position. Also peg height is considerably higher - so together with body being angled forward causes a fairly uncomfortable hip angle...but it obviously depends on your personal flexibility.
I defo agree with the bike fit thing, coming back after covid time off you really noticed it.
    Cheers
    Grant

  11. Excellent! - impressed by the way the bike picks up from about 6-10k rpm. Do I spy a red shift light?
