1200 DVT O2 Sensors

  1. Just been poking about checking the starter cable routing before getting upgrade cables and found the O2 sensors disconnected. No indications on the dash at any point, as far as I know the bike is standard except for the Termi can I fitted when I got it in July, and the exhaust butterfly valve is wired open/disconnected (spotted when I fitted the can). Bike is 2015.

    Any clues anyone please.....?

  2. As you still have the cat fitted, I’m surprised your O2 sensors have been disconnected. If the exhaust valve had been wired open before you bought the bike, what is the likelihood you have an aftermarket gizmo wired in to adjust the fuelling ? That would make sense of the disconnected O2 sensors. Andy

  3. Makes sense but I can't see anything non-Ducati, apart from a Healtech quckshifter module that isn't connected to the bike.....

  4. If my memory serves, the DVT ECU proved uneconomical to try and break for most of the aftermarket tuners, one or two did but I doubt there are many bikes out there. What does your screen show on start up ? There might be a clue there. My logic also tells me, if a previous owner fitted a QS, there is a strong likelihood you have a gizmo in the system somewhere, it’ll be a box probably only 2cm square. Andy

  5. The screen is as per the manual, ditto the menus for the numerous engine and suspension settings. Everything seems to work as intended but sometimes I think it smells a bit rich at start up.
The underseat electrics are standard as far as I can see apart from the non-connected QS module. But then a small black box could be stashed under the tank cover or anywhere.
The bike recently had a diagnostic due to a wonky front ABS sensor and they didn't mention anything. It also had service and belt change plus ECU update check before I collected it and again no mentions of anything unusual.
As the bike was sold new and serviced by Riders of Bridgwater, and that's where I got it, I guess I could ask for a contact for the previous owner as the paperwork doesn't give his/her address... I also might reconnect the O2s and see what happens.

  6. Maybe the ECU has been flashed with a Rexxer tune for example and the sensors disabled at the same time.

  7. I have no way of knowing without info from the original owner. The bike had been used with panniers and top box and touring screen which doesn't strike me as someone who was after more performance but who knows? I've not ridden any other Ducati other than a 950 Hypermotard so have no reference.

  8. It’s not always about absolute performance but improving rideability.

The O2 sensors often affect low down throttle response but a good flash/remap can address this.

Mine has one that I didn’t know about until I went through all the service history in detail. I found mine had been done in 2014 by a Ducati dealer. I gave them a call and they talked me through the process and reasons.

If your O2 sensors are disconnected and there is nothing plugged in to the other connectors to the loom, and there are no warning lights/messages then I’d bet it’s been done.

  9. Riders have no info but I found a mobile number for the previous in the service book so have messaged him.
