Buying Online

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by MarketSquareHero, Nov 16, 2022.

  1. Have not bought tyres online before, always used a local guy but unfortunately he's closed down.
Found a pair at a place called National Bike Tyres but wondering about the shelf life. Will these tyres have to be sold within a certain time frame of could they have been sat there for a number of years.
Also, if anyone can recommend a fitter in the North West who they trust, please give me a shout.
    Thank you

  2. I don't know about that company but Demon Tweeks online are or were providing great deals on loose tyres.

  3. Try Sticky Stuff tyres I find them hard to beat on price and whenever I’ve ordered from them they are always fresh stock.

  4. Thanks.
Will take a look at both recommendations.

  5. I've never had issues with buying on-line, usually off Ebay when local places have been out of stock.

The NW is a big area, but I used to use TST tyres/Culcheth tyres for many years if you're that way.

  6. I've brought tyres online from a few places, but these days always go straight to Demon Tweeks like XH558.
When I've looked around their prices are usually very competitive, and they've always arrived quickly.
I do have a local Bike specialist tyre guy that fits them for a reasonable rate though.

My thinking behind using them is that if I'm buying a popular tyre in a common size from a well known outlet their stock is likely to turn over regularly and I'll not get stock that has sat on a shelf for ages.

  9. Just check the production date via the DOT number. Last 4 digits are the week and year of production. For example 2917 means produced week 29 of 2017.
It's a legal requirement to have a DOT number on each tyre.

  10. I've used SportsBikeShop without issue - good service and free and easy returns.

  11. Ive bought three pairs in the last 18 months from Two Tyres .

  12. Thanks all for the suggestions. Will take a look and see what I can find.
Have used Demon Tweaks before (ride in,ride out) but not for tyres,so that's an option also.
Culcheth is not to far for me so that's another one.
    Thanks

  13. Yep TwoTyres for sport and track tyres. Demon tweeks has good selection but uses ParcelForce, who are less good.

  14. Another vote for FWR, Bobs prices are always keen..

  15. I use Holbeach Motorcycle Tyres (HMT) and/or FWR.

  16. Demon Tweeks (road tyres) and No Limits Support for track tyres (in their sale or when on offer).

  17. Used mytyres a few times but they lie about 'in stock' however I've used demon-tweeks & they are honest about stock. I personally wouldn't use ebay for such vital items unless its the same outlet accountee. As in bimblesolar for my victron kit & same on ebay.
