    Background to the song

    Brenda Spencer, 16, used a rifle that her father had bought her to go into her front garden & shoot across the road into the schoolyard at Grover Cleveland Elementary School, San Carlos (a suburb of San Diego). She mowed down the head teacher & the caretaker & severely injured eight children.
    The famous line, "I don't like Mondays" was later explained by Brenda. She said that Mondays were just like any other day to her but she couldn't think of anything to say to the reporters who had been allowed by police to gather in her front garden.
