899 Akra Exhausts

  1. 899/959

Are the akra exhausts likely to cause me trackday noise limit issues on the 899/959

looking at second hand bikes and a few I’m considering have them fitted.
    Many thanks

  2. Without baffles, almost certainly and even with baffles, you’ll need to choose your days and circuits. Noise restrictions have got a lot tighter at every track, including Donington and Silverstone, where traditionally the local councils have been more tolerant. Most trackday/circuit web sites will specify noise limits but where it used to be 105db static, it’s now more usually 102db static or in some cases 98db static/102db drive by. Brands Hatch GP circuit is very restrictive. Standard and aftermarket baffles are readily available so I wouldn’t be put off a bike just because of the exhaust. Any

  3. Many thanks for the info that’s great. what db do they typically measure static

  4. I’d only be at oulton and they’re usually 102 static from memory

  5. Be lucky to be below 102 with standard Akra baffles. I had Pipewerx closed end baffles in mine and was still over that, just.
Running baffles in as above I got double black flagged off Donny on a 98Db drive by day.

  6. Not owned either but hopefully someone can fill in that info. Andy

  7. Never done track days but i always found the termis on my 899 louder than the akras on my 959/

Probably doesnt help much but just adding my 2p worth. :)

  8. Many thanks all. Sounds like a no go for the cans. That’s a shame.

  9. Buy the bike you want and then fit the standard exhaust for track days, if it doesn’t come with the standard ones they can be picked up fairly cheap.
